View Full Version : Why is my hair falling out when wet?

I decided to change my hair care routine around 2 months ago, because i was washing it everyday with commercial shampoo/conditioner and had it semi-permanantly dyed, then changed to C/O method with less frequent hair washing. Then started to use ACV as a final rinse, and a few hot oil treatments because my hair is naturally dry.

But everytime i shower, and i've noticed it after using ACV and oil treatments, around 50-60 hairs come out, it looks like a very small clump of hair. However, i get hardly any hair loss when i brush when dry, or notice any shedding when it's dry.But i'm very worried about this, because before my change in my hair care routine, hardly anything used to come out when showering.

I've been to the doctor's although he told me he doesn't know anything about ACV and just told me to stop using it, and go back to the old routine. So i'm going for a blood test on monday to see if it's anything to do with my body, but i can't see why, i eat lots of proteins and a balanced healthy diet (that's good for hair!)

So, do you think it's the ACV that's causing my hairloss? Or is it natural that this has started happening? Help because i don't want to switch to my old routine where my hair is dry and brittle, and also i don't want my thick hair to become some pancake over time. (I also dilute it, i've even diluted it to 1/2 1/4 of a tablespoon to 200ml)

Forgot to add: I'm also not over oiling, i only use a fingertips worth and apply to ends

Washing loosens the hair that is about to fall on its own. Probably when you were washing every day you were loosing the same amount of hair but a little on every wash instead of a large amount so you didn't notice before. As long as your ponytail circumference isn't changing, you have nothing to worry about.

totally agree with Tina.It seems what you describe is normal.I don't brush my hair much at all until right before I'm about to wash.I get a big clump on my hairbrush which I remove and then I brush(yeah brush LOL) in the shower after I wash it to keep it tangle free and get yet another clump forming. And in addition to that some gets thru to clog the drain thing every couple of months.
So 50 to 60 hairs doesn't seem a large amount to shed at all.
I wash every two to three days so it's not that I go a long time before washing.
Also as your hair grows the clump on the hairbrush will grow too LOL..my clump is alot smaller now that am at BSL than when i was WL.
Produced some monsters then LOL

When you're doing the rinse, is your hair somewhat tangled?
