It depends if you used to have more hair there or not, because you hair could just naturally have this density.

I know that if I take pictures of the top of my head with flash (or even sometimes without flash) it looks really thin, but my crown has always been naturally less dense than the rest of my hair, unfortunately :[ .

Hard to say. If you've worn braids for a long time, it's possible that you've got traction alopecia in the areas between the braids. The area might recover on its own or with a treatment such as Rogaine or Monistat. It could just be that your hair is a bit on the thin side and your scalp shows when it's wet or heavily oiled.

I don't think you have standard male-pattern baldness happening. You seem to have plenty of thickness at the crown, and your hairline doesn't seem to be migrating upward.

Measure the circumference of your ponytail and monitor it. Be aware that it might change a bit with time since your hair was washed and with wash method, though. If it decreases significantly, definitely see a doctor.

There's definitely hair loss going on. For your own peace of mind, see a trichologist ASAP! Good luck!

All those cornrows cause that, they are real bad on the scalp. Individual braids do this too, all those tiny braids that have tons of fake hair in it(=more weight on the scalp!) These styles pull on the scalp too much and cause hair loss, i've seen it way too often to even say it's just a genetic thing and a coincidence that all these people who suffer from hair loss are also the ones who had cornrows 24/7 of their lives. It really happens most when you sleep, since you are pulling on the ends of the braid at night, all the pulling goes up to the TOP of the braid (the hairline, top of your head) so then you lose more hair there. I've been there, never braiding my hair again...and that was only 2 weeks of individuals!!
At least they looked like cornrows you kept on for a while on your album. Let your hair and scalp rest, the pulling on the scalp really affected your scalp. Don't overdose on anything, just be patient and eat healthy. I've heard of castor working for some people, who knows (not on me) but rooibos tea works for me on the shedding and regrowth. That and DE worked well on me.

And if you look carefully, you can really tell where they braided your hair in that same pattern where you see more baldness. That's where it was being pulled the most. And you don't show signs of male pattern baldness, this looks like braid patterns, you can see how some pieces look "boxed" and in
"rows". It's true for most people after a braidout, you can really see and feel where the hair was being pulled, it stays after two washes sometimes. I really suggest not going back to those styles for a long time if you already see the effects on your scalp, be gentle with it and your hair will grow back.
