I'm really not sure what my hair type is.
Now, my hair really isn't that long or anything...
but...

I want to say 3C but idk.

It's usually a lot tighter than that, but I was wearing it up earlier.

is it safe to say it's 3C?

Hmmm that looks like 3c to me, but I you should probably include an image of your hair when you've been wearing it down, and have let it curl naturally.

Hmm.
If I had a picture of that, I'd show you.

...but I alwaysalways wear my hair up.

it's just kind of a habit, I guess. :(

Might be 3b....

Somewhere I saw the 3s described based on curl diameter:
3a = sidewalk chalk
3b = magic marker
3c = pencil

Not sure if that holds up perfectly (help me, curlies!), but that's my understanding of it.

Also, for official hairtyping, we tend to like hair in freshly washed, untouched, airdried form with full curl shrinkage intact. Whether you want to shrink your curls up for a picture and risk whatever tangles that may cause is your own choice....

ETA: Whatever it is, I love the texture! I'm a bit envious, having never lived with curls like that myself.

This is where I'm having issues.

the hair on the front of my head is like, woah curly.
but underneath it's less curly.

so depending on the location on my scalp.
it's
just confusing. :(

It's probably 3c, but as curlies, our curls tend to change their minds and loosen on some sides sometimes more than others or get tight one other sides. Really looks like 3c to me.

If it's a mixture of curls, then I would say 3b/3c. From the picture it looks 3b, but if it's curlier underneath, then it is 3b/3c.

I was thinking definitely 3c, because suraque says it's usually tighter than that. If it looks like a 3b/3c when it's loosened up from being tied up, I would say it's definitely 3c when it's allowed to curl to it's natural pattern. But like I said, we'ld have to see a picture to be sure.

Hmm I think you might be a 3c. At first I was thinking 3c/b though.
