View Full Version : Curly girls, is it worth it for me to try CG?

July 12th, 2011, 07:21 PM
Ok, I've been gelling my hair after showers and such, but not really tryed the whole CG thing yet. But now I actually went to Body Shop and bought the rainfores sulfate free and cone free poo and condish, because my hair likes it. And I thought, should I try hardcore CG now? But then I wonder, is my hair wavy enough that it could look nice?

Here's a couple of picture where I had just washed it:

Here's my hair freshly washed at waist lenght:

My hair loves to curl/wave. If I've been wearing braids one day, or fingercurled updos, my hair looks like this

What do you think? Should I try?
ETA: I should also add that my canopy layers are much straighter than the underlayers. While my canopy is maybe 1b/c my underlayer's maybe 2a. Also, does anyone have any cg instructions? I saw a link once but lost it.

YES. It is DEFINITELY worth it to try CG. In fact, get the new book! Even if you don't like the exact CG method, it the book sooo much quality information on hair. Alot of straight-haired girls like co-washing and sometimes with no-cone, because it's just plain good for your hair! Also, it has recipes for homemade hair treatments!

May I ask, What is 'CG'? Thanks for answering my ignorance :p

It's miracles. (http://oneshan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/9780761156789-jpg.jpg)

It's mainly for curlies, but even if you just have a loose wave in your hair, it can still help you! It's like a revolution about hair health.

Thanks you so much :)

I would say, definitely give CG a shot. If it doesn't work well for you, you're not doing any damage! So it would be a win/win either way! :D

Thanks you so much :)

And from the looks of your pictures, you've definitely got a little wave going ;)

Go ahead and give it a go. You'll never know unless you do. My hair got really curly when I tried it but I actually didn't want it to be that curly so I stopped. I kind of like being somewhere in-between, having curly days followed by straighter days.

Well, give it a shot! I have tried parts of CG and it just didn't seem to work for my hair :( My hair is just too random I think...not curly enough in places, and curly in others... the not curly enough bits just didn't work for me!

Sure, no harm in trying! If you've got gel and cone free conditioner, you've got all you need, easy enough.

Here's (http://www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/curl-products/all-about-the-no-poo-routine-2) a link to a basic explanation. That site linked to has lots of talk about the method, too.

Do it! Do it! Trust me, it WORKS! :D

Thank you ladies! I'll give it a shot tomorrow! I'm already CO'ing, so the gell and conefree condish was all I needed to have :)

Yes. You need to try it. My hair is much the same as yours if I just air dry it, and after using the CG method, I have gotten amazing wavy hair with some curls.

It is definitely worth the effort.

Definitely give it a shot. My scalp didn't like it, but yours definitely might! Good luck! :)

For sure give it a try! I don't think you have anything to lose. I was on it years ago for a few months and my hair got curlier which was good in some ways but bad in that it made my hair a little more fussy.

I gave it a try, but my hair does not respond well to CO. I am always on the lookout for something that I can leave in to keep it wavy, but am yet to find my holy grail. I think I prefer it on the straighter side any way. I also wash my hair at night, so by the morning it is just a mess that really needs a brush.

Give it a go, you have a different texture to me so you may love it!

Thanks everyone! I'm definetly gonna give it a try tomorrow :)
