I just compiled an article of information that may be of help. It covers all the basic hair needs and a little extra. Hope it can be of help to others!

Thanks for a great summary, xoxophelia!

Might I also add that your hair will benefit from brushing every day with a pure bbb! All you have to do is use the brush correctly and gently..and be consistent!

Your hair can be lusterous and silky, w/o the aid of products, if you use a bbb regularly. It does take time..but you do not need to purchase products to achieve shine and softness! EVOOing is wonderful too, as you mentioned.

Awesome idea for a thread!

One suggestion for shampoo though: I'm a big fan of combo baby shampoo & bodywash, and California Baby's Super Sensitive Shampoo & Bodywash (http://www.californiababy.com/super-sensitive-shampoo-bodywash-8-5-oz.html), is pretty cheap, since you can get it in a huge pump bottle if you look in the right place, and you can use it everywhere, since its a combination product. :)

Here's an example of their REALLY huge pump bottles (http://www.amazon.com/California-Baby-Calming-Shampoo-17-5-Ounce/dp/B001F0RBAG):

ETA: I mean, Awesome idea for an article, haha.

Great article... All stuff I know but wonderful for the newbies!

But I did get a new recomendation for a shampoo. I've been using Loreal's Everstrong SLS free shampoo, but the Trader Joe's sounds like a much nicer shampoo for half the price. I'm going to have to make a trip down there and see if I like the scent... that's a deal breaker for me! :p

Thanks xoxophelia!

That's a really nice article. Too bad most conventional hair products mentioned here in LHC isn't available in every country. Importing shampoo and conditioner is a bit much for me. :p

I really like the article, but may I propose a section on cheap hair tools? Things like buying a cheap wooden comb from The Body Shop or using chopsticks/knitting needles as hairsticks, etc. :)

Yep, I get to about waist and all of a sudden haircare starts eating me alive! Natural or colored, it needs extra stuff when it hits mid back. Its good to know affordable stuff can be had. I love the EVOO and Honey. Its cheap and does a lot for my hair and I can mix up myself. I never learned how to take better care of my hair without spending too much before. I think it was huge factor in me cutting it once it got to waist. Now I'm thinking about just letting it grow and grow, THANKS!

Well, are you European? Here in Europe we have several natural brands, that are really good, if not better, and quite cheap too, like Alverde, Lavera, Logona, Sante...My favourite is Alverde, but I like all the others too. :)

That's really useful thank you :)

Now all we need are some lovely people to do some country specific ones! I know most of the items recommended aren't available here in the UK. (And I've never heard of any of the EU products you mentioned either Kouran.) Hint hint ;)

That's great! I always love learning ways to save! especially on my hair!! :p

Yes, alot of those I do know, but newbies will just drink it all in. It's like everything I've learned these past few weeks in one, easy-to-read article. Good job!

I think Lianna is not living in Europe, not sure.
I live in Paris and I never saw these brands, maybe I am looking in the wrong places? I use to go to Carrefour and Monoprix (supermarkets). I think I saw lavera but it is like 5 euros for 200ml, it is not cheap at all (for my wallet at least).I CO so I use tons of CO.

I'm not in Europe, I just looked in this thread out of curiosity. :D It's fun when I reconize a product in here! I'm happy with my current products, have been on them for years. :)

The products I mentioned are german, I think, but I believe they are available in most of the countries in continental europe. I have seen some UK products in the natural shops here, like Faith in Nature (http://www.faithinnature.co.uk/) and Dr.Organic (http://www.drorganic.co.uk/), but I've never used their hairproducts, so you will have to see for yourself. I hope this helps. :)

I cannot find them in supermarkets either, but I never go to supermarkets..I buy everything on natural shops that sell organic food without gluten and lactose, supplements, tea, and natural cosmetics. If you live in Paris I'm sure you will find a place like the one I'm describing.

Great article! Unfortunately, there is no world-wide distribution of the exact same brands, but there are similar products to be found. For example, in the UK, the Alberto range is similar to the US V05 (although some varieties may contain cones). Maybe you could mention in the article that there are threads on the Conventional Products board dedicated to particular countries/regions, even post links, so non-US newbies can investigate what's available where they live.
