There are lots of methods for heat-free curling, but if I want my wavy hair to be slick and straight like I flat-ironed it, is there any way to do this without damaging? Thanks everyone!

Wrap it!!! I do it whenever I want straight hair, and it works great. It's not PIN straight, like with a flat iron, but it looks very sleek and smooth. Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbvAh3AVFa0. Just do what she does and use pins to keep in in place, then tie a scarf around for sleeping.

I think there are serums that can make your hair go a little straighter.

Yes, wrapping. I use a cloth swim cap, so the hair is very flat after, no pins needed. Any type of tied cloth (silk scarf) will just slide off my head.

This is another method I came across http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omGqvaDVGTo . I never tried it and it looks time consuming and maybe it's a little damaging for hair as it has to be brushed when wet. Maybe using a special type of brush and being gentle doesn't cause much harm, I donno

Definitely wrapping. I would say use a little oil of your choice because it helps flyaways lay down better and makes your hair kinda of clump together so it doesn't just slid away as you try to wrap it. Whatever scarf you use will absorb the extra oil if you're worried about your hair being too oily.

I came across this some months ago, and have used this method for some time. It only takes about 20 min to do the entire lenght and hair becomes pretty straight, but not pin straight like when U straighten it off course. I still do it occasionally, but mostly just my bangs, then pin them back, and let the rest airdry. It doesn't seem to be very damaging, yes, there is a lot of brushing, (or combing, I just use my wide tooth comb :p) but still A LOT better than heat styling :D And its nice to not have to run around with wet hair for hours.

I have had success doing hair wraps over and over, I do them about once a week so my hair is nice and straight when I see my boyfriend. Here is my thread about it: Heat-free Hair-straightening Success with a wrap (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=69319) I've got pictures and an explanation.
