View Full Version : Celebrate with me!

I definitely haven't got the longest hair on this site, and I haven't got the thickest hair either, but I am today celebrating 14 years since my last trim.

I decided when I was 39 that I was too old to have short hair, so decided not to cut or trim it until I reached 78 (another 39 years). so, even though I can't break any records for quantity or quality, I am going for the longest time at terminal.

Here's views of the daytime ponytail and the nighttime braid - I may need to resize them as I've not used the camera on my laptop before.

I invite you to celebrate with me. There's an inexhaustable supply of cakes here for all of you:

Congrats on going that long with resisting trimming! Go you! :) And I'd say from the look of it, it's been a well-worthy journey so far and will continue to be so.

And thanks for the cake. ;)

I couldn't agree with you more! 39 is far too old for short hair on men or women.

Congratulations on 14 years of being the real you! I'm just delighted for you and your long hair. :hollie:

Congrats on fighting the urge to trim, but maybe trimming would thicken the hemline if your already at terminal?

Yay, Cake! I'm always happy to celebrate anything that involves cake but 14 years at without a trim? Go you! I can't seem to make it 6 months without one.

Kudos, congrats . . . and, ummmmm . . . please pass the cake.

Congrats on fighting the urge to trim, but maybe trimming would thicken the hemline if your already at terminal?

That's why I trimmed in 1994, but all that happened was that it took forever to regain the length, by which time the hemline was no better than before.

What I have done is to braid every night and to finger comb only instead of brushing to reduce the number of broken and lost hairs. It has certainly made a difference over the last two years or so.

Thanks for your congrats - we'll see what it looks like in 2033 - I'll probably have gone grey by then.

Fourteen years not trimming! Impressive indeed! Happy 14 years of great growing. It's not how long your hair is or how much you have, it's all about how happy it makes you.

Wow - so many people to thank for congratulations - I am touched by your kind words and encouragement.

Yes, I feel very happy at letting myself and my hair do what we want, and that has made not trimming easy.

I hope that I can inspire others who have decided to go for terminal or go without trims to stick at it.

Thank you all once again - it's been a great 14th!

I am much impressed by your dedication, and I think your hair looks great! So far, the longest I've gone without a trim is 3.5 years, but your history makes me want to try for longer.

My goodness, 14 years without a single trim whatsoever? At all? Not even a nip off a split end? :eyebrows:

I am impressed along with the rest. I have no doubts that you'll reach your goal at 78. That we all could be so disciplined!
