My band played our first show Wednesday night. I decided to get crazy and crimped and teased and sprayed the crap out of my hair. It looked AMAZING even in the heat and humidity - however I had to do a deep oil treatment afterward because it took some damage, so I won't be doing this again for a VERY long time!

I'm sitting here with Lush Caca Marron on my head - wish me luck with that!!

Wow, that is some amazing volume!

July 8th, 2011, 02:43 PM
I love crimped hair! It's so fluffy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82utG7Q3G_k

July 8th, 2011, 02:48 PM
I kind of love it :D

July 8th, 2011, 03:00 PM
Yeah if I could do this for all my shows and not sustain incredible amounts of damage, I would - but I'm just not going to ruin my growing out project!

July 8th, 2011, 03:02 PM
Cool!! ...and ouch

July 8th, 2011, 03:06 PM
Ohhhh yes. I drowned my hair in olive oil the next day!

Very rocker hairstyle. Looks great.

July 8th, 2011, 03:25 PM
It's beautiful in a bizarre sort of way :)

July 8th, 2011, 03:50 PM
LOL - just like our music :)

July 8th, 2011, 04:10 PM
Absolutely beautiful hair <3 ^-^

July 8th, 2011, 04:26 PM
Even though you did some naughty things to get it I think it looks so awesome. Big hair = Love.

July 8th, 2011, 04:30 PM
It's huge. I love it.

July 8th, 2011, 05:17 PM
I am trying hard to resist saying, "that's what she said!"

Heheheheh I am such a grownup...

July 8th, 2011, 05:24 PM
That is great hair :D

July 8th, 2011, 05:34 PM
I have always LOVED crimped/waved big hair. It looks ruggedly beautiful. You don't have to worry about a strand being out of place because they are all out of place, and they look amazing! You have just reminded me how much I want a crimper and waver :/...like now...

July 8th, 2011, 05:39 PM
I'm actually really glad that I borrowed the crimper - it looks so amazing, but once I give it back the temptation won't be there to fry it anymore (well sorta, I still have my amaaaazing straightener that I'm trying to ignore).

Thanks everyone! I thought you guys might enjoy that! A side story - the gal I bought my dress from on Etsy included the matching hair clip - so sweet!

we are close in age, so this won't date me too badly: I used to do the same thing for the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I braided my semi damp hair the night before with hairspray...remember Aqua Net?...or other styling product, kept it braided until just before show time brushed the waves into crimpish frizz and hit it with more AquaNet. (I work in renewable energy as karma for environmental damage)
It would still be crimpalicious Monday morning, after two shows and partying Sunday.

July 8th, 2011, 05:43 PM
 omg what did you do to your hair!
:bowtome: because I love it!
Lol be sure to make it get better after all that trauma

July 8th, 2011, 05:44 PM
You know, you could probably get much the same effect with several braids left in overnight (say eight?), taken out, and then brushed so much they go insanely poofy. Much like this: :silly:

July 8th, 2011, 05:47 PM
Yes! When my hair was longer I used to do little braids all over for that effect. I'd still be flat as a pancake on top though. And oh yes, I remember Aquanet. I was crimping my hair in the 80s...oh my gosh...25 years of hair abuse!! It's a miracle that I found this website!!

July 8th, 2011, 05:48 PM
...although I think in the 80's I was using either Stiff Stuff or Rave #4 :-D

July 8th, 2011, 05:49 PM
Yeah, you can get the same effect by microbraiding your hair wet, and take out the braids once they're dry. You'll get smaller crimps towards the bottom (because the braids will have some taper), but other than that, it looks the same, and nobody will notice the smaller crimps at the bottom since they'll all be staring at the awesomeness of all the volume! It stays just fine without hairspray until the next wash (at least it does on my hair).

I love that look, it looks fantastic on you, and the flower is genius!

July 8th, 2011, 05:59 PM
I love crimped hair! I get the same effect when I do about 30 rope braids with damp hair, wait for it to dry overnight, then brush it out the next day. It make my hair feel so soft and fluffy.

July 8th, 2011, 06:06 PM
I LOVE the look your hair has in the picture! So much volume and I love the crimped look too!
But I totally understand you not doing it again so it won't damage your hair!!

July 9th, 2011, 09:43 AM
Your hair looks awesome haha

October 26th, 2011, 02:42 AM
That is some awesomely bushy hair. You have got me though, where can I hear your band? For you to describe it as beautiful in a bizarre sort of way.

October 26th, 2011, 04:51 PM
i love it I want to sleep on your hair. It looks so soft and fluffy

October 26th, 2011, 06:07 PM
Nice hair, but 40! Sheesh, you do NOT look 40! :D

Hope I look like that when I get there :) (well, not exactly like you, but like myself like that, hehe).

October 26th, 2011, 10:33 PM
My doctor today said she thought I was in my mid 20's (this was at Urgent Care so they did not know me already). I love hearing that, I tell ya!

October 27th, 2011, 12:32 AM
you hair looks great!!
how fun and a great change of pace!

October 27th, 2011, 02:41 AM
I'm jealous! That looks awesome. But yeah, not so great for the hair.

October 27th, 2011, 03:46 AM
I love that, it looks great - though I can imagine that you'd not want to do it too often - interestingly, Mrs M who is in her mid-40s would never do anything like that as she's see it as too young for her. Even though she could carry it off with ease.
