I always love when people post about their hair growth with pictures. So now I'd like to see how everyone's hair looked when it was at it's shortest length, how it was at it's longest, and how it is now. Of course, you can just do shortest and now if your hair is now at it's longest.

I'll get the ball rolling with my own pictures.

Well... I can't find a picture... but, it was chin length in the front and shaved in the back about 2 or 3 inches up and it was bleached blonde.

shortest: 2006. yuck. :( i didn't mind the length and color actually, but the condition wasn't so good. oh well. my boyfriend did not like my hair this short though. and please do not mind the face, i was young!

current: is what's in my album. it's feeling better again after the massive abuse i did to my hair over the years. i have my starting length at lhc as 25 when i first signed up, but after signing up it i still got it cut and left lhc... now i'm back for good!!! i still have some split ends, but it's feeling softer... just need to get my layers all grown and get ALOT of my thickness back :(

I grew it out after that, but then I kept cutting trimming off too much! I would only trim every 6 months or so, but I would go in thinking, my hair grows fast, I can let the hairdresser go a little nuts... Now I've made up my mind to just GROW IT!

Thanks! I'm kindof ogling my own picture today, since I've never seen a nice picture of the back before. I didn't understand why LHCers took so many pics of the back of their hair until now! It's preeetty in the back :bounce:

I Think they're shinier than usual, because I added extra conditioner. LHC has inspired me to really condition my hair to be sure the ends don't get dry and crunch and damaged. I think a by-product of the extra conditioner is super-shiny curls :D

It doesn't look as good in the front, though, since it makes the shorter pieces framing my face appear greasy... I'll have to figure out a way to properly distribute product to the very ends without greasing up the top & front. I've also considered using sea salt in the front to dry it up just a tad...

The longest I ever had (measuring by body mylestones) was mid-thigh length when I was 9 years old (in 1992), but sadly I have no pictures with my hair loose from back then :(

Now my hair is classic, which looks shorter than when I was 9, but by absolute length (if measuring with a measure-tape) now it's the longest it's ever been :)

This was taken the day I cut it off to shoulder length, right before we went to the hair dresser. I have no idea what was up that day - my hair was never usually that shiny and neat, because I paid it no attention.

I've been a rabit short-hair for years and I have no idea for how long I'll manage to let it grow this time. I generally go "AAAAUGH!!" as soon as it starts touching the sides of my neck. I'm having way too much fun putting weird stuff like aloe vera gel and apple cider vinegar in it, though, so I might perservere. Plus, I know I'm going to become obsessed with hair sticks once I can use them. They look like even more fun! I'm such a magpie. Sheesh.

I'm not good with pictures, so won't attempt that. However, my longest was waist senior year of high school and shortest was a chin length bob - cut from a moment of madness (breakup) and I immediately regretted it. Anyway, it's around APL now. I'm very proud of it's health now more than anything. My waist length was full of breakage.

I notice eyebrows alot because mine are rather dark and thick and I spend tons of time shaping them. They look very thick and natural in the older pictures (and I'm pretty sure that was the style), and they look like they're at least a couple shades lighter now, as well as changed shape. I where you mentioned that you had permanent eyebrows done. Now I'm wondering why you needed them done, when your natural brows are so very thick and dark? And I'm also wondering how you changed them to a lighter color? (I would love to lighten my brows just a little, because they are so very black!)

In high school the popular look was a thinly plucked brow, so I did it for several years. They didn't all grow back :( I just have a light fill in, but it's so nice not to have to do it daily, I just wake up with them just how I like them. Yay !
My brows were very dark through childhood and teenage years, but they lightened on their own over time. I have never done anything to the color, but my eyebrow hairs are much lighter now. :shrug:

It's fun to see everyone's shortest and longest pics : ) I couldn't find a pic from when I was in my teens and cut my hair to shoulder which would be the shortest I've ever really had it, so this is the second shortest that I could find in my pics, it was from St. Patrick's day 2006. The longest pic is my current hair length and was taken just last month.

I think you edited to add that picture of your brows. I really like them! I think lighter brows [that are reasonably thick & shaped] are very soft and feminine :)

(And by lighter, I mean lighter than mine, haha. I still like brows to be at least as dark the hair on a the head, just not as harsh as mine!)

Haha Tabby28, I think my eyebrows do sortof fall under this category... each hair literally got longer as I got older! :p And thanks for the compliment! Though Natalie Portman's brows nearly match her hair color, mine are many shades darker. I wouldn't mind having Natalie's brown-er brows :D

And Moonlover! I really love the reddish auburny color in the middle picture! Did you use henna, or is that natural?

I didn't think I ever had natural hair color.. and I'm not even too sure if this (my shortest pic) is natural I think I remember my grandmother dying my sun in hair back to natural around this time and it turned out black. I think this is after it lightened up? heck I don't know but here is what I could find except for when I was really little and I always had horrible hair cuts and very very short. (why the hair obsession I guess)

And Moonlover! I really love the reddish auburny color in the middle picture! Did you use henna, or is that natural?
This was actually dark brown dye that faded on top of some pretty bright (and also faded) chemical red. My color now is henna and it looks most like my new avatar. The picture I took this morning was in my very dark bathroom. It's so dark in there I can't even pluck my eyebrows :mad:

Also chahuahuas, your pictures are really an inspiration! Your hair is so long and lush now. I hope mine gets that long and my curls are that nice :)

Here are mine.

Shortest is not really the shortest, this is from my confirmation in 2004... it was a pixie when I was a bit younger, but I'm afraid I have no photographic evidence of that! It was a pretty bad cut imo

While my shortest was technically my baby hair (Mom loves to tell people how bald I was for the first 3 years of my life), this is the shortest I've ever gotten my hair cut. Excuse the picture, I was 14 and took it with my terrible phone.

I used to give hairdressers tons of liberties with my hair, since I'm a pretty adventurous person. Little by little, I've started to regret how much I let them chop off each time, since my length really started to go static for a while. It's like I don't realize how much a "few" inches really is.... I can't imagine how much I would miss it if I didn't give them the liberty to cut off so much!

I'm at fault for this too, since I wasn't super stern and at some point asked "what would you do?" I in no way said "do whatever" or "sure, do it" and I actually brought in a picture with me that he said "okay" to before but said "oh, that's a long hair style" after. :confused:

The ONLY upside is the inspiration to be more active on LHC again, which had helped me to get to where I was before.

Shortest (aside from early childhood) was just below chin in 2008. I detested it (except for the first day, when I thought it was cute).

It was cute, I loved it for about two weeks, maybe a month. Then I hated it.

I guess not :P So my shortest haircut was a choppy super layered style at about jaw length/just below my ear. My longest hair was at BSL. And my length now is at my collarbone when pulled forward(including wave). :) I had cut it to about chin length 11 mo. ago. Soo glad Im growing it out!! :D

Yes, the one in the middle is my natural color. The bottom is also but it was darker then. The current picture is hendigo, I am waiting for it to grow out.

...I told the haircutter to cut it to BSL (I pointed on my body, even!), and as always somehow they misunderstood me by a wide margin.

After that, I grew it back to waist length and cut it back to BSL in May because I knew I'd be outside in the summer heat a lot, so I'm currently at about an inch past BSL.

My shortest was a pixie in 4th grade.

I have very few pictures of myself in general, let alone showcasing hair.
The longest pic I can find is this from Dec 1999. I grew it until May 2002 with a few trims of an inch or two. You can see the ends several inches below that bottle there. ;) I don't think I was far from knee when I got it cut back to BSL. I would often damp bun, my hair is naturally not that wavy.

My shortest was buzzed in the back with long bangs, a rat tail, and a wierd little nape fringe. I would add a pic but idk how, lol. My longest was almost to TB..... but I killed it by dyeing it purple and had to cut it. so I went out in style and did the whole rat tail, asymetrical, buzzed thing. Now its falling in big soft curls right below my shoulders and the only part I dye, use heat tools on or torture is my fringe :cheese:

As an adult..
Well, this certainly isn't the longest I've had it since childhood. At one point it was about waist length or so, dyed dark brown/black, and badly damaged from heat styling and general ill treatment. At some point I said the hell with it, bleached it to death, and ended up with this:

Very faded purple, very badly damaged, and already a good amount of length sacrificed.

I ended up chopping that to shoulder, dying it black again, using henna and indigo sometimes instead of chemical dye in an attempt to "repair" some of the damage, and maintained it for a few years, which brought me to this.. shortest it's been as an adult:

I can't find any photos right now, but here's mine:

Shortest - May 2011, extremely short all over with a bit of length in the middle, kinda like Agyness Deyn. Hated it!

Longest - In my memory, when I was about 15 it was just past shoulder length, dyed black and wavy. It was all one length and I loved it...chopped it all off in a moment of madness when I split up with someone cause they loved it too. *sigh*

Current - Oh dear. It's a state. Kinda mullet at the back, the sides just cover my ears and the front is always in a side sweep but reaches my nose when wet. I hate it and can't wait to grow it out....however it is in excellent condition which is a bonus of chopping!

My shortest is obviously gonna be out of womb. My hair as fair as cuts have been the same length all my life until I started growing it in April/May. That is short bangs, hair cut above ears and short in back. My hair is the longest it has ever been right now. I am going to post pictures of this soon.

I had my waist length hair chopped into a earlength bob at 8 years old (1990!) resulting in the dreadful pyramid shape because of my hairtype!. No photo's at hand though.

I've had it between shoulder and waist during my teens, going up & down with it.
Then I discovered LHC at 21 and got to about Hip in 2005:

~1984 I think this was the shortest I ever willingly had my hair cut. I was some kind of bob thing with bangs(and straight!). My boyfriend at the time LOVED it.

~1989 I'm pretty sure this was the longest my hair has been in adulthood, from the looks of the picture it is probably waist, and five times as thick as it is now. It was, however, in worse condition; the ends were too dry to curl properly.

I was born with hair to my shoulders, so was my brother, and there is actual photographic evidence but my mother has that :)

So this would be my shortest. My 1970's hair or as my mum liked to call it, my Keith Richards hair because she thought it made me look like Keith Richards, which admittedly, it did rather. But I still loved this cut!
