How do you measure your hair?

Hi, I have a question. I've seen how many of you guys write your hair's length in inch, but I am wondering WHERE do you measure from? Is it the longest stripes, or from your forehead? Or how? I've tried searching to find the answer, but I couldn't find anything, so I apologize if this question has been up before.
