So yay!!!! I wanted to thank everyone here for all the great advice and friendship over the past year! I have been on many a forum in my day and never have I come across one that is so filled with positive energy and fun! Seriously, when I have any kind of issue( hair related or life related) in my life I first ask DH his opinion and then I scour the boards here (or post a new topic!) and all I ever received was awesome advice and killer support. Anyway on to the good stuff!
I shaved my dreadhawk off in the dawn (aka january) of 2009:

So I was not adept at taking photos from behind last year but here is where I was when I joined Jun30 2010:

I was 16 inches, juuuuuust brushing collarbone and using mostly CO methods and fingercombing

Now: (Please excuse the oily roots, I have to wash it later..i just thought the ends looked nice today.)

I am at 23 inches in the back (only an inch from BSL URGH!) and in the front my layers are APL (stretched), some are solid apl, others just brushing. Because I havent had an official trim since March, I am only doing S&D (omg its so much fun, i am totally obssesed) Ghassoul washing, and using nightbloomings Winter Panacea on the ends and triple moon on the scalp. Detangling with a horn comb, and I recently invested in a cheap BBB and have found a new joy in brushing my hair. (Madora style! ;) ) I honestly had not let a brush touch my hair since probably 2009. I disputing letting my virgin color grow in, since I have consistently forgotten to go buy henna for a few months now.

Oh and I am still ADDICTED to rooibos.

I think 7 inches in a year is pretty good, but I am going to try to get even more through this next one.

/End horn tootage.:cheese:
Love ya'll!

Soooo pretty! You looked cute with short hair, but GORGEOUS with longer! And you look sort of like Evangeline Lilly... :crush: I actually think that your roots vs. hennaed hair give you a subtle but edgy sort of ochre effect (I think that's what it's called...?).

Also, what does rooibos tea do???

Both! I try to drink it often and I use it as a scalp spray and occasionally a rinse too. If I am starting to get tired of the taste, i mix it with juice and that is really yum.

Also: THANKS EVERYONE!!!! Your kin words are so encouraging and flattering! <3

Omg your hair is so gorgeous; I love the waves, the shine, everything!
I love your colour as well, would you mind telling me what your natural hair colour is under the henna?

I really want to try rhassoul now, I've been considering buying some morroccan products to wash my hair (either rhassoul or black soap) but they're really harder to find and more expensive here (in the UK) than at home (in France). Did you buy yours on the internet, or is there a specialist shop around where you live?

My natural colour under the henna is a light brown with hints of blonde and copper, but only hints. Under this henna is a strange mix of chemical copper/auburn, ****ty highlights that some evil hairstylist added (possibly because she didn't like me orsomething...seriously they were stripey and awful).. and I thinK I have almost gotten rid of lingering indigo that was holding on with a green fury at the ends.

Its amazing what henna can do. <3

I get the Ghassoul from a local bio store. I bought big bx months ago for 15 euros and I only use a tablespoon wih some water to make a runny paste, apply to wet roots, let sit for about 5 minutes or less (depending on how badly my hair needs it) and then rinse. After that its a white vinegar (with rosemary/nettle from etsy!), rooibos and cold water rinse.

Rooibos is (in english) Redbush tea. It is made from a plant from south africa and has all kinds of awesome benefits for hair and general overall health. and it has no caffeine! If you search for rooibos here on LHC there is alot of info. Happy tea-drinking!:D

Amazing growth considering how short your hair was at the start of 2009!
