My brother is getting married at the end of July. I'm not in the wedding but want a good hairdo....any suggestions? I'm not the best at doing hair so it needs to be something fairly easy. I have bra strap length, slightly layered...

It looks complicated/fancy, but it's SO easy :) And with a pretty hairstick I think it would def be wedding appropriate!

I would really check out Lilith's Youtube channel for this. I perform wedding ceremonies, often outdoors, and must put my hair up much of the time. Plain French braids and buns get really boring quickly. I have used some of her videos to come up with different ideas; quick and easy, too, because I don't have time to do something special for every wedding, especially when I can do up to 4 weddings in 1 week.

This is one example of a variation on one of hers. My hair has layers and is barely BSL, so it would not work out like the one Lilith did, but I have gotten a lot of compliments on it (as usual, my apologies for the large images; I still don't know how to resize them... maybe someone could tell me>):

I also learned from her how to pin up curls in a pretty updo (I never did know how to do this before):

And the ponytail updo at the nape of the neck:

She has a lot more ideas that I have not even tried yet (notice the yet?)

Sabriel--very cool looking!!! I will try that one out and see how it looks!! Thank you

Eirelin--she has some very cool styles!!! I watched the video of the hairstyle you did in your first pic and looks very easy to do but elegant too. Did you just tuck your ends under and then pin?? Also where did you get that pretty clip? Love the pin curls too...thanks for the ideas

Any more ideas are welcome. I would like to play around with several this month and see which one I like best and will last all night!!

For the first one, I did exactly what she did, but since my layered hair is shorter than her extensions, the "bow" at the bottom did not work out well at all. So, I kept the sides of the "bow" short and did the same for the bottom, looping it up and pinning it up underneath. I didn't have a large flower like hers, but I did have some leftover hair pins from when I was making and trying to sell chain and scalemaille, so I stuck one of them in to hide the bobby-pinned jungle back there. The flower is roughly 1 to 1-1/2 inches wide (I actually don't really remember any more) and hides pretty much all of it. Also, the legs of the pin are pretty long, so I had to put it in upside down.

So, it isn't quite what she had, but it looked pretty good; better in person, actually.

Pretty much any clip, pin, etc., about the same size should do the trick.

I found the curly styles easier to do and more forgiving of mistakes (easier to hide them).

I LOVE those pins!! I figured you used a clip of some sort....I will look for something like that. Also, for your last pic, the curly bun thing...do you remember which video of hers that one was? People I've showed the pics to really like that one but not sure which video it was...thanks so much for all your help.

BTW...you have gorgeous red hair :)

Thank you. It is red naturally, but I just started using henna because of the white coming in. As for the hair pins, I was so excited when I started making them. I would wear them out and about, getting lots of compliments, but no one actually wanted to buy them! So frustrating! So now I just wear them for myself :D

This is the video I used for the curly bun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LWKRXYATYQ&feature=player_profilepage

I do use her twist and pull technique for coiling up the curls, and they never get tangled or anything. When I first saw her do it, I thought (kind of like other people), "Oh, no! She's making tangled knots!" But they really aren't. When you unpin them, they slide right back down the little piece of hair again and come right out.

Eirelin, Try opening the picture in Preview, going to the "Tools" menu, and clicking "Adjust size." You can change the little box from "pixels" to "percent" and make your photo 50% of the size. Then click the "View" menu up top and select "Actual size" to see how big it is now. Don't forget to "Save as" if you want to keep the original large.

If you don't have preview can you tell me what image editor you do have, or if you have windows or mac?

Well, I do have an image editor (both Photoshop elements and Irfanview), but the pictures I link to here are all already online at different places. Usually, you can resize the way it is viewed . For instance, for a Craigslist or eBay ad with HTML tags, I can just put something like this: <img src="http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn245/Eirelin/Hair/OCTOBER2005.jpg" width="100">, and it would then be seen with a width of 220 pixels (and with the height adjusted proportionately) wherever I had posted the link.

I just was hoping someone could tell me how to do that with IMG code.

Since all those photos are already online, it would take forever to download them all again, shrink them one by one, then upload them all again. Not to mention that it might mess up existing links I have to them. I did that the other night with about 8 photos and it took a long time.

Eirelin thank you for that link!!! You don't happen to have any extra flower pins that you would sell??
