I just used Ion reconstuctor protein treatment from Sally Beauty, and my hair seems to love it!!! I recently went to a milk chocolate color, and ever since, even though I went to a professional, my hair seems thinner and lack luster. Possibly because I had to break my own rules and use a clarifying shampoo several times to strip the darker ends out a bit to even out with the crown. ( next time I'll deep condition before I go). So, I decided to try out a protein treatment, and like I've mentioned, I've had great results. I am wondering if I can use this reconstructor daily, or could this cause problems? Also, I know that some people do not have such great experiences with protein treatments, so I want to everyone's opinion on it...:)

I have used the Aphogee keratin 2 minute reconstructor up to twice a week without problems. It gets to a point where hair has absorbed all the protein it can and it is just working like a conditioner. I use it no more than once a week unless I color it. I use AO Honeysuckle Rose which has no protein the rest of the time. Too much protein can cause some weird problems so I like keeping my products separate, the moisture bottle and the protein bottle. Some people find a good conditioner that has protein and use that every day.

You probably don't want to use the reconstructor daily. Even though my hair LOVES protein I still have gotten protein overload from time to time, which resulted in some breakage. Try using it weekly, every other week, or every third wash.
YMMV, of course. :)

Protein treatments seem to work best in moderation. The coloring (and possibly repeated clarifying washes) must've stripped your hair a lot, and protein treatments are a big help, but I don't think it's supposed to be done daily, more like weekly, because it can be very drying. I read several reports of people having messy, straw like hair from doing too many protein treatments.
In any case, if that happens, this should help http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=17
I tried looking for an article about protein, but didn't find any, if anyone knows where it is, please point it out :o

I make homemade protein treatments as well as use several different brands of them. I do them a few times per week. My hair loves them!
