My mother, when she was younger.

Up until I think her sophomore year of college, my mother had hip-to-tailbone length hair, in this georgous shade of red. My hair isn't as red as hers, but our hair styles pretty similarly, so I can look at old pictures of her and know what my hair will look like. (Okay, so there are old pictures of me at almost the same length, but I just love the color of hers)

I know in her later years she wears extensions and wigs, but I just love her natural hair, dark and curly. I have wavy hair myself but maybe, just maybe I'll have the guts to dye my hair dark. These were the two major hair influences that made me say no to the scissors at a young age. I didn't really want their hair per say, just my hair, as long.

I found out years later she flat-ironed it. Ouch! I also was NOT supposed to see this movie, (with good reason) but someone we didn't usually spend time with had some sort of in home movie theater and showed it, when my parents were not aware. I stopped thinking I should leave the room as soon as I saw her. I didn't care from then on if I got in trouble...
The visual imagery I got while reading the Laura Ingles Wilder series, when she wrote about hair.

Princess Leia had her moment in my head, but by then it was more of oh, there are more ways to wear your hair up other than 1800 style? Must try... Small child trying to put her hair up...well that didn't really work out until I was much older. Hehe.
