I just found this adorable new hairstyle that I've never seen before. You basically just tie two knots in your hair - I think it looks really cute and chic!

Here's the picture from the article done on short hair, I bet it would look even better on a longhair!

Here's the link to the how-to article:

Gonna try this one out tomorrow!

It looks cool, but ugh! what instructions! Blowfry, mousse, hairspray... I'm sure we can do without. I wonder if the style would work on much longer hair (with a lot more knots.) I'll try it out and get back to you.a

Yay! Awesome, can't wait to hear how it turned out! I wonder what would happen if you knotted it all the way down like a braid? My hair's not long enough for that yet.

I can't for the life of me get this style to stay. My hair just jumps right out of it even if I put the pins in the places they say to. My hair is normally pretty good in styles but this one has me stumped.

Hm... Wonder if it's super easy to take out too...

That style is super cute, but that person's hair looks like straw. I've been LHC-ized.

That does look great, and I love the bobby pin sneak that holds the knot neatly.
Not at all a fan of the first few steps though.
I just had a scratch try (have hair, will play) & I think it would work "reefed" but some of the prep is called for to get the two hanks of hair to play nicely. That done, it might well be possible to have a "braid" of reef knots, maybe separated with elastics for added emphasis.
(Sorry, no pics - my hand/cameraphone coordination is dire!)

"Comparing the photo to the left you can see that the longer your hair the greater the affect"
Mmm...they mean effect, right ?
Whatever, i'll try it but i think my hair will just "jump out" like Julliams said ^^'

Lilith Moon has a couple of tutorials on knot hairstyles, with at least one alternative method of securing the style.

The first style in this tutorial:

Two variations on a half-up approach:

I can't help thinking that it might look better as a square knot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reef_knot) rather than as a granny knot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granny_knot), but it looks too scary for my hair in any case!

Edit: Whoops, I see that in the original link, it IS a square knot, it's just in the tutorials I linked that it isn't.

It is very easy to take out! That wasn't an issue for me at all, however, it was hard to get the style to stay in. No matter how I pinned it always felt looser than I like.

Awesome Macrocarpa! Thank you so much for these links, I'm gonna experiment with them tonight. I really love the way the knots look, it would be fun to find a hairstyle that works for me.
