So here goes... some pictures up until now. I can't say I'm completely happy. Back in December my hair was thick and GORGEOUS. Then I made the mistake of going a temporary black and purple with manic panic. The problem? My hair was SO over processed with colors previously that the black stuck like glue to my hair. I had to bleach my entire head to get it out. So with that and stress my hair has thinned dramatically and become super dry after spending months restoring it with aloe, henna, and deep conditioners.

My hair grows pretty quickly and so I am pleased, but for the last month I have been considering cutting it all off. More than half of my hair is still highly damaged from bleaching and dying multiple times to the point that my hair underneath and on top is broken off in uneven chunks. Now YOU can't tell, but I can. It tangles and it's a pain in my butt!!! The only thing that fixed this was hennaing and so I am back to hennaing like mad to save my length. I would honestly cut it off except that I look horrid with short hair, just horrid.

So alas... enough complaining. Swimming a few times a week probably isn't helping either. *sigh* Okay, okay. Here are some pictures. Enjoy. Encourage me.

JUNE 2010- Just starting to henna. First application. Everything but my bangs.http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=5711&pictureid=75096

SEPTEMBER 2010

Did my entire head with Special Effects Virgin Rose... but it leaked onto the blonde and so I went ahead and dyed my bangs with Special Effects Atomic Pink.... LOVED my hair. It was so thick and healthy here even with all of the dying I had done.

DECEMBER 2010- Didn't take many during November. You can see how nice my hair is here. I could actually wear white and my hair still looked thick... you know what I mean! Haha. It's not like that anymore though.

FEBRUARY 2011- After getting some pretty horrible and traumatic news... my hair thinned like mad. I was loosing so much hair for 3 weeks or so. And this was BEFORE I dyed it the black and purple, which was a vegan non-chemical dye btw. This picture is after it faded... as you can see the black clung to the damaged part of my hair... yep. That's how much I'd dyed my hair that a temporary dye become permanent. I couldn't wash it out for anything and I'd planned on it fading out and going back to red. I had to bleach it out.

APRIL 2011- So I bleached it and then used Manic Panic Vampire Red for a couple of months. But now that summer is here I swim a lot and needed a more permanent red.

MAY 2011- Pooftastic braid waves. Braid waves + brush = whatever happened here. Lol.

MAY 2011- Back to hennaing... straightened hair and put in mad amounts of coconut oil. No, I don't straigthen often, but unfortunatley because of my hairs condition I have to straighten it to make it look nice. It's that or cut it or put it up. And NO... not straightening will not keep it from being damaged. My hair is beyond fixing. I can only mask the damage. Henna is the only thing that will fix it and that is what I've started doing again.

Despite all of my complaining I get A LOT of compliments on my hair. I guess I just have a goal in mind and I had it in December and now... like nothing... it's gone. It's upsetting and I'm trying to stay motivated to keep growing it long and thick and healthy. Thanks for all of your support here guys! I have learned SO MUCH in the last year!!!

Thanks everyone, and sorry for the choppy posting. LHC wouldn't let me post more than a few pictures at a time and when I went to comment it took away all of the pictures and editing I'd done. Bleh... so anyways! They're all here now! Woohoo! :D

Oh, and I'll be hennaing tonight before I go to bed. And again next week. :)

WOW your hair grows fast. I love your texture and length. Still super pretty and enviable hair despite the damage. I know how you feel about damage, I'd cut mine off but it's nearly all of my hair damaged and then I'd be bald, I have hardly any hair as it is *sigh*

Yeah... and I've cut off A LOT since that first picture. I do a lot of trimming. So it grows even faster than what you're seeing. I'm pretty lucky, but just impatient!

I'm sure you'll get to your goal soon. I love your siggy btw. :)

I see what you mean with the comparison pictures, how it is looking thinner these days...but if I just saw those last few pictures, I would never in a million years think you'd had all that trouble with your hair health. It looks beautiful & it has grown so much! I'm sorry you had to go through bad news & such that made your thinning worse. Your hair is definitely still gorgeous.

Your hair doe still look great, even after that bleaching, I can see why you get a lot of compliments. :)

I used to have a lot of trouble settling on a colour, and then I could never get it perfect, so I had some bleaching too. ): Somehow my hair has gotten darker than I like, so I WISH I could bleach it to get it just a tad lighter.

Beautiful hair!! Your hair grows so fast it won't be long at all before any damage is gone. Honestly, if you hadn't mentioned it, I would have never guessed you had an issue with damage, it looks very healthy to me.

Kome, your hair is lovely. :flower: I can't really see the damage you talk about, but if it is there, you'll grow it out in no time, concidering how fast your hair grows! I envy that! :)

I think your hair looks great despite all the things you say about it being damaged. Dying and growing CAN be combined! And you look great with your henna red. Keep it up!

Wow, your hair grows super fast, despite the damage. Sounds like you have a long road ahead of you to get it to where you *want* it to be, but truly, it looks spectacular as it is now. I hope you can hang in there! Maybe try to maintain it at this length by cutting 1/2" a month? Then you can keep your length and cut away the damage slowly. Good luck and happy Hair-i-versary! :flower:

Yes, I was thinking about doing this, but that would take forever. My main goal is to get it manageable again and thicker. I keep trimming a lot lately anyways, so I may end up doing that. :)

And thanks so much everyone! The biggest problem is that my hair tangles. With my virgin hair it's like silk and I can run my fingers right through it. I miss that so much!!! You are all such a big inspiration though. I just henna'd again last night and so hopefully that will take away some of the tanglies for awhile. :)
