I was wondering if you ladies out there could tell me how to create these two victorian hairstyles: link 1 http://www.hairarchives.com/private/victorian/victorian6.jpg link 2: http://www.hairarchives.com/private/victorian/victorian5.jpg

Thanks in advance!

Try this link. There was a post a couple days ago here (I looked & couldn't find it again).

Might get you started.

It appears both styles call for hair that is much shorter in front. Back in Victorian times, that usually meant cutting the longer hair in the front, temple, area in order to be able to use curling tongs to do the short curls.

The first link looks like some kind of bun is involved at the top of the head. Alas, the pic is too small to clearly see what is going on with the hair underneath the bun.

The 2nd link doesn't give enough detail about how the hair looks from the back. Sorry!

The first one could be approximated with a soft french twist done on hair with braid waves in ... maybe? No idea about the second. I agree with Madora, though - both ladies have short front bits that have been curled and then used to frame their faces.
