I was just thinking about all the things i do to keep my hair this way and get it better and healthier than ever before with the goal in mind which one just changed from classic to floorlength...uhmm yea right.
How am i ever gonna get there:confused:
A lot of times people ask me what i do with my hair ,i always answer with i'll pm you on facebook, its too much to say anyway..

So what do i do:

I take silica
I dont overwash
I use oils on my ends
I take vitamin B
I make sure that i get enough protein
I s & d(try to get that clear to a non LHC-er)
I selftrim and micro trim(even worse to explain:P)
I detangle and brush carefully
I let airdry and don't use any heating tools
I dont dye
I use henna
I scalpmassage with castor oil
I sleep on satin
I drink rooibos and green tea all day long
I moisture alot

So that's kind of the things i do to grow it longer,i might have forgotten some things.

My question is: What do you do to keep/get your hair in the best shape?
I'm curious to read what else people do..

and ofcourse to read i'm not the only hairobsessed girl in the world and i'm not 'crazy' haha... or am i? :slap:

My hair isn't very long at the moment, but it grows at a very fast rate and when it has been long, it is usually pretty healthy. I attribute it to these things:

1.) Scalp massage with castor & essential oils specifically for hair growth
2.) I take silica, biotin, L-cysteine, L-methionine, multi-vitamin for hair, skin & nails
3.) SMTs (honey, aloe, olive oil, rooibos tea)
4.) Neem oil on scalp a couple of times a month
5.) Hairever II & Energizer Hair Follicle Stimulator several times a week
6.) Various oils several times per week - Coconut, jojoba, rice bran
7.) Self trims

Yes! I love them both! I had a thinning spot on my hairline in the front and the hair is regrowing there! YAY!
Also, they make my hair feel fuller and very soft.

Mine's kinda short too :D

1 - I don't dye (anymore)

2 - I put it up and forget about it most of the time

3 - I take silica

4 - I eat a lot of protein and keep an, otherwise, strict and healthy diet

5 - I drink enough water and green tea

6 - I don't wash too often

7 - I deep condition it every other time I wash

And that's my lucky 7! :D

How much silica do you guys take? I may go run and get some tonight.

I wash my hair. Shampoo for above the ears, conditioner for the whole length.
And I let it dry and try not to get it caught on things.

...the end.

The product I use is 224mg.

It is very good for your nails & skin too! :)

I CO wash my hair (shampoo and my scalp aren't best friends) as needed. I comb or brush slowly, ends first. I wear my hair contained most of the time. I wear a satin sleep cap to prevent strangulation at night. And I try to eat and sleep in a way that will keep me healthy.

That's about it.

You are not alone in the obsession business :)
I've been so extremely embarassed/shy about it before i found LHC!
I'll take a note on what you do, because your hair looks amazing!

Here's what I do:

- wash every 4 days or so
-oil several hours before (almost) each wash , ends with EVOO or wallnut oil ( makes it darker), scalp with castor oil.. don't always do sclap, maybe once a week or 2 weeks..
- Occasionally do ACV rinse or nettle tea rinse, also put nettle drops on my scalp and drink nettle tea or green tea
- Take multivitamins, eat a lot of chocolate :D and drink a lot of water and beer
- No heat
- No more combing while wet and generally being much more careful and gentle, tho my hair is sooo awfully tangly
- No more dyes
- Try to braid/ put up more often tho its still so rare
- Started some S&D, now I'm on a break because i got worried im getting too addicted
- Gonna do my own microtrims, and I've done 1 inch trim so far on a good moon day..
- Using no cones and CWC
- Love my hair and take daily dose of LHC, try to learn from some experienced ladies with admirable manes :)

Pretty much benign neglect. :) Besides not washing the ends very often, deep conditioning and using coconut oil on occasion and careful detangling, I don't really do much else. I take vitamins, but I don't take them specifically for my hair.

Not too much going on here either.

1) Wash once a week (CWC with diluted shampoo, no cones, no sulfates. Currently enjoying GVP conditioning balm)
2) Airdry, usually bunned damp.
3) version of Kimberlily's spray (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=277) to refresh during the week, a dab of oil or butters on the ends as needed.
4)Sleep contained, braid or cap.
5)Trim twice a year.

I take a multi and omegas, but more for general health than anything else. I've tried all kinds of things at LHC, but this basic routine works well for me!

Out of the things the OP listed, I do 10 of them:
1. Take silica
2. Don't overwash (most of the time)
3. Self trim/micro trim
4. Air dry/no heat
5. Never dye
6. Use henna
7. Scalp massage with castor oil
8. Sleep on satin
9. Moisturize a lot (leave ins are my best friend)
10. Take vitamin B (well, biotin but it's a type of B)

In addition I:
Try to keep my ends tucked into an updo
Use gentle, natural shampoos without SLS
Use cones very rarely (today is a cone day!)
High water pressure shower (rinses well and I SWEAR makes my hair grow faster)
Always wash my hair with cold water

I s&d.
I oil my ends.
I massage my scalp while I watch tv.
I shampoo less often than I used to.
I try to remember to braid it at night.
I take MSM and a multi-vitamin everyday, and iron and biotin occasionally.
I use henna and catnip.
And I try to be overall healthy.

1 detangle from ends working up, instead of just rrrrrripping straight down.
2 seamless comb!
3 no piling hair up when showering
4 only shampooing the scalp
5 washing fewer times a week. I can't believe I ever washed my hair seven days a week, but I did for years!
6 using a LOT more conditioner.
7 keeping it contained in a braid or bun, both day and night.
8 oiling the ends
9 avoiding the blowdryer.

And I think by LHC standards my routine is pretty bare-bones. :p

I talk to it :D

1. CO washing
2. monistat for growth
3. lots of leave in conditioner. since i have heat damage from chin to waist i use a cone-free deep conditioner as a leave-in. it works well.
4. i wear my hair in a bun every day. i plan on doing this until i've cut off all the damage.
5. i use a plastic wide toothed comb
6. no heat
7. no dye
8. castor oil and various oils to moisturize my scalp
9. acv rinses to keep the scalp in good spirits
10. make sure to CO wash or wet my hair once every 3 days to prevent it from drying out
11. pre-wash oil treatments

I do a lot as well, I think. You're not the only one hehe!
I do:

1. I put Monistat a.k.a. coochiecream on my head, about 3 times a week
2. Take MSM, Brewer Yeast, vitamin B-complex and a multivitamin for women
3. Proteinshakes (I hardly eat meat.. or eggs..)
4. Try to wash it every 4 days or so (which is hard when you have fiiiine hair like me, plus when you want to use monistat daily. I'm always trying to find a schedule for my Monistat/washing-routine :P)
5. No more dyes - henna!
6. No heat
7. I just try to eat as healthy as possible.
8. Wooden combs!

Uhh that's about it? I want to try Silica as well! But I already take so many vitamins.. sigh! :P

Also, just wondering, am I the only one that gets people that don't believe me when I say henna is actually healthy for your hair? Most of the time they just look at me with disbelief or more like a 'okay.. whatever' look and just ignore it :P
