Silly question but I ask anyway. I´m not too shy to show my ignorance.

What does coconut milk do for hair? Does it moisturize, or is it protein treatment or?

I just used it with Argain oil, and it leave my hair very soft.

Thanks :blossom:

Coconut moisturizes hair. Most people here use coconut oil, not coconut milk, but coconut milk would probably do the same thing, though not nearly as well.

I often see references to Dianyla in threads about coconut milk. She wrote a blog post about how she uses it.

You can find it by doing this: click on Search (on the menu bar) and then Advanced Search under Blogs
where it says Blog Text Contains:, put the words coconut milk
where it says Blog Posted By:, put Dianyla
tick the box that says Ignore Comments
Then click the search button.

I've read it all and it doesn't answer her question! I also want to know about proteins.

Thank you! It was very interesting article, I understood that people are using coconut milk to dry hair. My hair was wet.

(I didn´t know there was blogs in this site. So, I think I´m going to read more, it seems that in this forum is quite lot of everything interesting!)

So, I can mix some coconut milk with honey and conditioner and use it as moisturize treatment.

Try that and see if you like it. If you don't like what it does, you can always wash it out. :)

Funny thing is coconut milk the first time I tried my hair was at APL and oh my did it make my hair greasy it took me about a week to get it out. I tried again a few months ago and my hair lapped it up. It does moiturise but it gives a bit of the crunch to hair that protein treatments do, not a favorite of mine to be honest but id imagine it would work well on coarse, think hair that is on the dry side but for fine hairs not as suitable.

I just used this today!

My recipe was: honey, olive oil, coconut milk, a little bit of very strong rooibos tea and conditioner.

My kids put the coconut milk in the refrigerator because they didn't know and it was solidified. It actually worked well that way!

I couldn't help but eat a few scoops of the coconut milk as I added it to the mixture. Mmmmmm!

My hair feels great and it didn't get crunchy. It is a bit "heavy" though. I am glad I olny put a dash of olive oil in or it would have been worse.

I am going to experiment with this mixture with other kinds of oils besides EVOO and see if I can fine tune to perfection. I also might try straight coconut milk on dry hair.

I find most conditioning treatments take better and give the best results on dry hair.

Thank you for sharing these articles, they were very informative! :D

This thread kind of makes me think that coconuts are a bit magical when to comes to hair care. They can help lighten hair, they can prevent mechanical damage during washing, they can minimize peroxide damage, condition hair, prevent protein loss and now coconut milk could possibly get rid of dandruff, prevent hair fall and graying, hair straightening, making hair shinny and soft. What can't coconut do? lol
