My favorite bun is a braided Chinese bun. I do not use bobby pins, I wrap the braids around whatever hairstick I am using that day, the ends I collect in a small elastic and wrap them up in in and put the little lump of elastic bound ends under my bun, I find it practical to do it like that.
When I take the bun out at night the ends are always very curly from having been wrapped in elastic. They get straight again rather quickly and I can not see any split ends or damage but I am starting to worry if the wrapping of the ends in the elastic might be damaging as they are so curly when I take them out. So is this safe to do or should I switch to bobby pins to keep my Chinese buns in place?
