I've been using Moroccanoil- their regular oil treatment- as a leave-in conditioner for about four weeks now and my hair loves it! It's super shiny, smooth and never oily! I got it from my hairdresser but Amazon.com has some really great reviews on it. One said something about the oil taking care of her split ends once and for all! :) The older I get (just turned 40), the drier my hair has become and I just want to get some relief without resorting to a lot of deep conditioning. This dry oil isn't supposed to leave buildup (and so far I think it really doesn't but we'll see) and it has no alcohol. It does have cones, and the main ingredient seems to be Moroccan argan oil. Regular retail is $38.99 but a little goes a loooong way. :) I'll keep you updated right here.

I've wondered about this, why you wouldn't be able to use plain argan oil instead. It's quite a bit cheaper. The prices of the Moroccanoil brand are exuberant!

It's great that you're happy with it, though. :)

I've been using Moroccanoil Shampoo for about a month now and my hair seems to love it. I tried using the conditioner too, but had to stop because my hair didn't feel right with it. I use the MoroccanOil Shampoo and finish with Sauve Conditioner. My hair is great using this!

I was under the impression it's the other way around. Not that I have anything against cones, I use them and love them.

Could you post the ingredients? I've tried the official website with no luck.

I got ingredients from here http://www.folica.com/hair-care/hair-oils-and-serums/moroccanoil-oil-treatment-three-four-oz

For something with cones. stuff from Sallys is more cost effective.. I like the one brand I have bought there for 10 bucks, with cones.

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Butylphenyl Methyl Propional, Argania Spinoza Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), Linseed (Linum Usitatissimum) Extract, Fragrance Supplement, D&C Yellow-11, D&C Red-17, Coumarin, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone

So mainly cones, with a touch of argan oil. Sounds nice :D Argan oil alone didn't do anything spectacular for my hair, but maybe this babe will work better.

I mainly use the Organix Coconut serum. Other serums don't seem to have as good effects on my hair. Isn't it odd that very similar products (meaning containing on average the same cones in roughly the same proportions) can work very differently?

The Sally's serum sounds interesting. I've looked it up on Makeup Alley and almost everyone seems to mention the lovely smell. Is in oriental? I'm kinda hooked on the Organix serum lately, it smells amazing, a bit artificial, but in very pleasant coco-nutty-tropical way. Has some coconut oil and shea butter too!

I've never had access to pure argan to know if it's better, but I've never had a cone issue either..

No Blonde on Blonde, not weird. Some people even have the same product work different on their hair in different seasons ;)

I've used this one http://www.sallybeauty.com/gloss-shine-polisher/SBS-105442,default,pd.html?cm_vc=SEARCH happily for a few months.

Is this the coconut serum you have used? http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=104370/Coconut_Milk_Anti-Breakage_Serum/Organix/Treatments Sounds interesting, and I like the smell of coconut :)

Since it's almost time for me to get a new bottle of serum, I'll try this one out.

Yeah, that's the one. I bought it by accident - I just finished off my beloved Fekkai Glossing Creme and my local Target was out of the travel size tube - I was on low financial ebb at the time and couldn't spend 20 bucks on the normal sized one. So I grabbed the Organix serum, it smelled nice and I vaguely remembered reading good reviews about it somewhere on the net. I love it! :cheese:

It is pretty cony but so far my hair loves it, so hey! :) I have to admit that I tend not to look at price tags, so I have never tried pure argan oil, but perhaps it is a lot oilier? The Moroccanoil isn't very oily at all.

That coconut serum sounds great, too, though, thanks- if for some reason the Moroccanoil stops working for me (don't laugh- it has happened to me before, with several products, even after months) I'm definitely going to check it out!

I have highlights, meaning that yes, small sections of hair bleached and toned. I've defected from my no-chemicals, henna-only routine :(
Anhoodle, despite knowing exactly what I was getting into, I bought some Moroccanoil from the salon after a stylist used some on me.
I know the cheif ingredients are cones, I know it's not pure Argan oil. I know it's a hyped-out product.
I know which oils penetrate the cuticle, and also use orangic, unrefined coconut oil in my routine often. I need cones too, tho.
I have the problems of dry hair, frizz, ratty ends and some layers. I blame the chemical coloring and infrequent trims, since I don't use heat.
On to my opinions of Moroccanoil:
Useage: After I wash and condition, ( 2 X per week).
Application: Section towel dried hair into quadrants. For each section I use half a pea-sized amount that's been emulsified with an equal part of my cococnut oil. Then comb through. I also use a wooden tooth, wide tooth (TEK) paddle brush. This product is rather thick, almost syrupy. I love the smell, but that's just me.
Allow hair to dry up or down. Between washes I use a dab of coconut oil to smooth things down.
Opinion: My hair has always responded better to cones in some aspect of my routine, even when actively using henna. So if you use and like cones, I recommend giving this a try. Downside is it's expensive.
I've been using it for a while and it works for me! It tames frizz, my ends curl into ringles rather nicely, less tangles, and overall it smooths my hair. I'm actually able to brush my dry hair regularly and my hair finally responds well to it! Shine is increased also.
It's a cosmetic rather than restorative fix, but it works really well. Trick is not to use too much. And get the hair good and clean during washes.
I can't say whether it's better than other less expensive silicone/oil serums - I haven't used any. But the smallest bottle of Morrocanoil cost me 16$ and has lasted months and still over half in the bottle, so perhaps efficacy and longevity are above average?

This worked for me for a long time! It was my holy grail product. However, just letting you know, after a while, it stopped working :( Maybe my hair got too used to it?? I used a ton of products from that line but they stopped working for me eventually.

I did end up buying 100% argan oil instead. Now I would never go back to paying 40$ for a bottle of moroccanoil when I can buy a bottle of 100% argan oil. Moroccanoil is expensive because argan oil is expensive, but it has so many chemicals that its not worth it to spend the money on whatever amount of argan oil you're getting, IMO.

I won't buy the Moroccan Oil brand because it's mostly cheap silicones with very little argan oil. But I keep hearing people rave about the scent so I would love to be able to duplicate that in pure argan oil.

I've been thinking about getting it but this is the only thread I see on moroccanoil....are there any others? I'm iffy about cones. I feel like my hair needs them but I'm still not sure how my hair likes them, I think it just depends on the product. I've also been thinking about getting the moisturizing mask. I've tried the shampoo/conditioner but my hair HATED them both, they made my hair very dry. So idk.

I really like this product. A while ago I saw spidermom said that she prefers to use non-coney S&C and apply a coney leave-in where she needs it. I find this to be a good method for me, too, so if I am going to blow-dry my hair, or I want the sleek, straight look like in my signature picture, I use a bit of this on my ends. It does smell nice, but not overpowering, and it provides excellent slip, shine and detangling, plus it masks unruly/split ends in need of a trim.

I also use and love pure argan oil, but this provides the slip of the cones. Pure argan oil makes my hair very soft, but not quite as slippery.
