As an un-twisted bun? Sorry if this was a silly question, I'm just more curious than usual today. :p

I don't know if an untwisted bun exists, but I hope it does - I have thick, layered, wurly hair and twisting it into buns means that the layers stick out, the wurls loose their definition/ go frizzy, and coils are dense and just 'eject' pins throughout the day

In the Articles section, I gave instructions for "the bun that stays"; no twisting required. The Nautilus bun requires no twisting. I also do the Gibralter with no twisting.

most braided buns require no twisting i think, they also stay better for me than regular twisted buns

Hypnotica made a vid for Spidermom's bun that stays (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoBA2OhZrcU), and Torrin has one for the nautilus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b86ZH0J7xtE). They're both twist free and the most secure buns I know. :)

mneh - I have thick, layered hair as well! Hopefully though, when my hair gets a bit longer I can attempt some of these buns :p I know how you feel about the layers and pins being ejected from the bun...

spidermom - thank you for those suggestions, I will surely write them down and study (handicapped at styling)

pepperminttea - thank you o so much for those links! :flowers:

squigglyflop - I have been thinking about braided buns, but my layers poke out even more when I do that!, although I've always been a fan of braided buns as well. :D

The lazy wrap bun does not require twisting either. It is in the articles and I cannot find it at this moment.

I can't get spidermom's bun to stay unless I do twist it some (as I am wrapping the length).

You can also do an infinity bun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4IZjosmZg4)without twisting but it looks different (not the one where you make a cinnabun and pull one loop over). Also, a celtic knot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEtHr-EeBy8)does not require twisting, either. Well, I guess there is a slight "twist" at the base when you turn it. Same with the hypno-bun... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFeNYl-OK6Q&feature=related)only one twist.

Waiting so long - I'll be on the look-out for it then! :p Although I'm not sure if my hair is long enough to do wraps. Because my hair is thick, I'm sure that I'm going to have a little twisting to do on most buns as well. Infinity buns are so pretty..can't wait till I can do them :)
Celtic and hypno buns sound lovely as well.

knotted buns like the celtic knot bun require no twisting. I like to give my hair a turn or two to help gather it, but that's totally personal preference.

I'm having fun trying these suggestions :) I managed a Celtic bun half-up, a pencil bun, and some sort of lazy wrap. My layers stick out but I just tell myself that messy buns are in style because everyone has layers these days ;)
