Protective hairstyle?

Hello!
After wearing my hair very short( a short pixie cut!), I decided to grow it again, and now it's a litlle above soulder length. I try to folow as many growing tips I can, because i would like to let it grow a litle bit more (arm pit length maybe...) before starting to trim it. Since I'm a veterinary tecnitian am work only outside, its always get tangle by the wind, and I'm wooried about the damages of the sun... Do you have any sugestion of protective Hairstyles i could wear? ( I mostly pull it back whith an headband...)

I suggest light oiling and a french braid. Comfortable to sleep on - sleek for work. and people are really impressed if you whip up one during the day! Try tuck the ends underneath to protect them - I suggest dreamweaverbraiding, which is a site that teaches you how to braid! Happy hair-growing!

The only thing is that, at above shoulder, I don't think she would be able to get much of a braid going.

I would see if you can get your hair into a french twist. If you don't know how to do one, there are lots of tutorials on youtube. I really like the french twist as a protective updo. It keeps everything in place and secure. I used a pelican clip to keep it up, up until I purchased a fork which worked a little better. But you can get a decent pelican clip cheap at the drugstore. I don't have a pic of my cheap plastic one, but here's what I'm talking about:

You might be able to do a sock bun (http://punkynmunky.blogspot.com/2008/03/sock-bun-tutorial.html). Large octopus clips are also great for holding all your hair, like a bun cage.

You might want to try a UV Buff to protect your hair from wind damage and sun damage.

The problem are the layers...theres always a part os the hair that manage to get of! ( think i´m gonna buy a lot of bobby pins:run: ) I dont realy like to braid because the lower part get realy thin (damm layers!) and remember me a rat tail... Honestwitness, i LOVE the beret! I think I'm going to buy one of thoses...
