I posted the other day about problems with my absurdly wispy ends... my hair was also really dry looking. Here's what it looked like about a week ago:

http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z414/4nnibelle/P5143626.jpg

Well, here's what I've done since then:

1.) Cut off one inch of hair.
2.) Used CWC with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration (for the first time).
3.) Used MUCH less coconut oil than usual.
4.) Began using jojoba oil.

My hair looks straighter, sleeker, and actually LONGER than it did before...!

For the first time EVER, even though my hair has been at waist for over a year... I feel like I have long hair after seeing this photo! I really didn't want to put my hair up for work after this... hehe. :eyebrows:

Thanks so much, guys! I'm so glad it's not just me wishing to see improvement... hehe. I showed DH and he insists that it's simply the camera angle. *sigh*

YES!!! I've decided that I'm going to maintain at waist-ish for a few months and just let the hemline continue to thicken-- then on to hip (and beyond?!). :cheese: :cheese: :cheese: I plan on never having hair shorter than waist-- I never truly loved my hair until today!

Actually, DH cut off almost an inch of hair. But it actually looks LONGER in the second photo... wondering if my hair is growing faster now that I'm massaging and oiling! And not wearing my hair in ponytails... :eyebrows:

WOW! That's amazing! It looks like a different person's hair. So what do you think made the most difference? Well, other than trimming off an inch. Do you think you were using too much coconut oil? You said you did CWC. What were you doing before?

I really like the sleekness and shine. I sometimes have these frizzy, splitty looking ends even though they're actually in pretty good condition.

I really like the sleekness and shine. I sometimes have these frizzy, splitty looking ends even though they're actually in pretty good condition.

The last part you said was EXACTLY my problem! My hair is 100% virgin-- never colored, blowdried, straightened, etc-- and my ends have never been more split than average-- but my hair looked damaged for some reason. I think the biggest change was the coconut oil. I went from using NO oils to using coconut oil every day, and quite heavily twice a week... my hair would be either super dry looking, or stringy and oily from the coconut oil. I clarified and haven't put any coconut oil anywhere EXCEPT the ends, and I think that's helped a lot. Maybe my hair just wasn't used to all that oil. I also think my hair really didn't NEED that kind of moisture-- now I'm using a small amount of jojoba twice a day to tame the frizzies and this is the result.

Also, for washing, I was just doing shampoo then conditioner-- sometimes double shampooing-- because I was trying to remove the coconut oil residue, which was very stubborn for me. I was also using the same Pantene I've used almost every wash for four years. The Herbal Essences felt better as SOON as it touched my hair-- at first I was worried, because the shampoo made my hair squeak like a clarifier, but the conditioner was really moisturizing. My hair has been sooo much softer than usual-- but not obnoxiously fluffy, either.
