Hi guys, I really need some help here. I have the goody spin pins but when I put them in my hair, the last part of the coil always flops down. I can't get the pins to go through the end of my last coil. I can't seem to tuck in in either, there really isn't anywhere to tuck it in. I might be doing the bun wrong, I'm not sure, and I do have layers if that helps. -sigh- I want to grow out these layers SO badly. I don't know if that's what's causing the problem.
Any help? Also, I find that after about an hour, the bun flops down from my head. I'm not sure why. I think I'm doing it wrong, maybe?

By the last part of the coil do you mean you're making a cinnabun and the ends are flopping out? I only received my spin pins today, but how I use them is wrapping the entire cinnabun up, and then spinning my first pin THROUGH the final coil, to the centre of the bun as far as it will go. Then I add another one at each side ensuring I catch the coils of hair each time, and spinning fully in.
The layers probably aren't helping, but keep trying! :) I couldn't even use a hairstick a week ago and just by practicing you get so much better!

Make sure you're inserting the pins right against your head, and capture the hair that feeds into the bun as it's going in. In other words, don't just put the pins through the bun itself, but through the straight hair that's anchoring BEHIND the bun as well.
I have issues "tucking" too, but that's not a big deal as long as I get as much of the ends as I can into the pins before I spin them up (or down.)
It may take a few tries to situation it right, or to re-adjust the bun. I still can't usually get them in there perfectly on my first try. ;)

I'm not sure what type of bun, it's the one where you twist the hair and coil it around. I'll try to keep practicing and pay attention to getting it through the final coil.
My layers are driving me CRAZY. :P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e62FQC1kFb8 that video helped me when I first got mine (about two weeks ago xD)
The way I ussually put them in is do either a braided bun or a cinnabun (both are just coiling it around the base and tuck in the ends), then I take the pins, place the ends at the edge of the final coil and the hair on my scalp, screw 'downwards' and when it's in I twist it so that the ends face toward the middle of the bun and I keep screwing. I do three or four in one bun to make it really secure. Either in an x shape or a mercedes logo shape if you know what I mean xD
Hope that helps :)

That sounds like a cinnabun to me! What you can also try is when you get to the very ends of your hair tuck the very ends under the main coil itself, and then anchor with the spin pins.
Don't just insert through the bun because that hair isn't the 'support' hair you could say. :p You need it to grab some hair close to your head/scalp to lock your bun on sort of.

There are loads of YouTube tutorials using Spin Pins on shorter or layered hair - just watch a few and see what they do with the tail. :)

I noticed that the pins flop unless I attach them to my head as I screw them in.

I have the Spin Pins, and I wear them every day. I also have layers, and there was one stage above APL where it would not stay up for a few weeks (I reverted back to my old peacock twists for a while). Aside from practice, I would recomend that you insert them at a 90 degree angle to each other (perpendicular), not opposite like the instructions suggest. But yeah, practice inserting it and making sure it really anchors against your scalp. Good luck!

^^ no problem and for those wondering they don't damage hair in anyway.

I think the important thing to remember is to have the prongs grab hair from the base of the hairstyle with each turn of the pin. Keep the pin as parallel to the head as possible. I have very difficult to tame hair and these things can hold my hair like a rock all day.

The trick is to twist super tight, right down to the ends, and then pull the ends under and almost through the centre. Then aim the spin pin directly at your scalp, at the very corner of your bun, and twist until it hits the scalp, then turn the pin so it is laying flat against your head, and twist through the bun like that, making sure you pick up lots of scalp hair as you go. Do the other pin the same way on the opposite side - however I find that one will do it for me!
