Hi guys I could you help me with the first hair classifier. When I started here I classed my hair as a 1b, but i wondered if you think this is right. I has always blowfried my hair straight:( I have stopped using straightners:) And as from today am trying cwc and drying naturally ( so hard not to touch though )
I've taken some pics when still damp and then dry, right side seems to be slightly more wavy:confused: I think.http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l514/pixiestar13/Hair%20classification/IMG_3186.jpg

I was just refered to this thread
http://archive.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=53924 for help with classifying my hair :)

An important tip mentioned is that it's based on how your hair looks when it's left to air dry naturally.

There's also a guide on here if you haven't seen it yet, though it's not very descriptive =/

Your hair has a definite S-pattern and looks too wavy to be a 1b, IMO. I'd say you're at least a 1c. There is a possibility that your hair might get wavier as it gets longer. :)

Hi MissManda, thanks for looking, I am wondering if I could be a 1c:) Hope it gets wavier as it gets longer:D

A further-back pick might give a better idea, but I'd say you're at least 2a. Possibly 2b.

I think it's somewhere between 1c and 2a ... the back is more straight and the sides are more wavy ... definitely not 2b though (2b looks like tighter braid waves in all the pictures I've seen)

Did you comb? If so you may well be curlier than you appear. :)

I did comb, when it was wet:( would that effect it?

Anje, Jaine
Its straighter at the back, a loser wave:confused:
Maybe 2a ? :D

I'd say 1c/2a too. Very pretty!

Hmm... I'm thinking 1c... I wonder if some of the wave is due to the hair hitting the shoulders, which sort of pushes it a bit as it dries, and causes a bit more wave? My hair definitely looks curlier at that length than it does when it gets too long to sit on the shoulders.

I think it's a good idea to get a picture from a bit further back too, and of the back of the head.

Very much so, I also find towel turbanning flattens my wurls. :)

If you wet-combed before taking those photos, I'd guess that you're at least a 2a, since I see a definite S wave going on there! Does combing usually cause your hair to dry a bit straighter? :)

combing and brushing does straighten my hair :(

Mesmerise, the shoulder's, yes that also could have added to curl:confused:

So overall we are thinking either 1c or 2a? thats cool, I'm happy I'm wavier than I thought:D

Definitely at least 2a, maybe a 2b or 2c - maybe try again without turbanning or combing? :) The full typing is no conditioner either!

So if I wash it with shampoo, do I wring it out after and can towel it or anything? or just leave it to dry. Usually I would put it in a towel just till I'm dressed. If I do shampoo only though my hair get really tangled, sticks together:(
Whats the best way to do it?

I recommend you to thoroughly detangle before washing, shampoo without piling the hair on top of the head (generally try not to rub it too much, just gently over the surface), allow the water to sweep your hair on your back, squeeze (not wringe!) to drip less later and once you step out of the shower, put a towel around your shoulders under the hair. :)

Thank you :D i will try and give it ago next wash.
But I'm so happy that I am probably in the 2 range:cheer::cheer::cheer:
I'm gonna change my classifier to 2a:D I can always change it again :)

2a is a nice range I think. Thanks to this thread I'm pretty sure I'm a 1B. Like someone said in the thread, my hair sometimes look like a 1a, sometimes like a 1c. Never in the 2 range.

I would say 2a. There are lots of s-waves, meaning you are in the 2's!

I definitely got a couple of spirals at the front now its dry:D, but not the back:(
My hair is finer at the front and sides and thicker in the back, maybe thats why:confused:

I classified myself as a 2a mostly because of the cowlicks I have at the front. I've come to realize that the rest of my hair is much wavier than I'd ever thought.

The main reason I've found the 2aF classification useful is that by searching through the membership for the haircare routines of other 2aFi and 2aFii's, I've found some good/useful advice that works for my hair.
