Hi,

I'm new to this forum and I posted my pics in another thread on pixies but decided to start a new thread to introduce myself.

Here are my pictures which document my hair journey.

After my last haircut two weeks ago, I regretted my decision to cut my hair again. I knew why I did it, I didn't want to have long hair in the back and on the sides while still trying to grow out the front. At least my previous pictures show how much can grow in a short time. But I wish it would grow faster!

1. Taken in August 2008. This is how my hair looked the summer prior to my cancer diagnosis.

2. Taken in October 2009. This is about one month after my hair started to grow back again.

3. Taken in March 2010. This is two months after my very first trim.

4. Taken in April 2010. This is after another trim and for the first time my hair actually has a style.

5. Taken in May 2010. This is after another month of growth, no cut, I just like this picture.

6. Taken in June 2010. This is after another trim to re-shape. I've been trying to grow the front and it looks half way there!

7. Taken in October 2010. This is after another trim to re-shape. I've been trying to grow the sides for four months.

8. Taken in January 2011. This is after another trim to re-shape. The sides have grown longer. The back was cut shorter.

9. Taken in May 2011. This is after another cut to change things up. The front has grown much longer. The back and sides have been cut shorter with layers. Going forward, I'm planning to grow my hair all one length and let it get much longer. My goal: chin length hair by May 2012.

Congratulations on beating cancer! You have a beautiful face with very good bones!! You seem to be making fast progress. You've come to the right place to get support with your hair growing journey.

renarok, thank you for the compliment about my face. I need support when it comes to growing my hair because I realized after my last cut that I don't want to go short ever again. It causes too much anxiety.

I would love some advice on what I can be doing to better take care of my hair. I currently shampoo and condition everyday. Blow dry it most days. Flat iron once in a while. I'd be happy to just wash and go but it looks kind of flyaway when I do. Any tips?

you could try light oils for styling, or products.

Its growing back beautifully! As for fly-aways, you could try some oils. I like jojoba the best.

Wow! Short hair really looks amazing on you and the dark color is a beautiful choice. To tame flyaways I use a light leave in conditioner or a few drops of coconut oil.

Congratulations on beating the cancer! I'm joining the others to say that I love how shiny your hair is and how healthy it looks, and the dark color is gorgeous! Oil is helpful with flyaways, but if coconut oil makes your hair too oily, I'd try camellia or just a tiny bit of your regular conditioner as leave in. Is your hair wavy if you don't straighten it? It's just long enough to try out a messier wavy look. I think it'd be really cute on you :) Happy growing!

You are pretty and your face is very friendly, so far, all those lengths look good, including the buzzcut from the second picture.

your hair is so much thicker! shinier! and fuller ilove it!!! i agree you havve very nuce bones congrates on beating cancer. my favorite pic is of your hair in january 2011 lovely!

Is your hair the same color and texture growing back in after chemo? sometimes it grows back totally different. My friend's hair grew back in curly and lighter brown when before chemo she had dark brown straight hair ( she loves her new curly hair!)! Your hair now looks much thicker than in the before chemo picture!

Firstly well done on beating cancer; remember every inch you grow is a reminder of how far you have come. Your hair looks incredibly healthy, it has a lovely shine. Id just advise you to enjoy your hair and if that means blowdrying then blow dry on a warm rather than hot blast. Weekly deep conditioning treatments and maybe a little oil will help keep your hair in tip top condition.

Eat healthily and keep hydrated, for now thats really all you need to do. I am certain you will reach chin length by the end of the year, your hair is growing fast, just concentrate on keeping healthy and the hair will benefit too.

yes this is very common, my friend had brown, poker straight hair prior to chemo and its grown back a 3a rusty red she loves it too!

You've been quite a brave trooper! I'd say, just keep using gentle shampoos and it will grow!

Your hair is looking absolutely beautiful. So healthy, thick and shiney!

I would have to agree with all the comments everyone has mentioned. You will get lots of support and help at LHC. You just need to ask!!:)
