One of my friends had something similar for prom. Baisically she seperated her hair into small sections, twisted them around her fingers (like a rope braid) then rolled the twists up in medium sized heat curlers, then lots of spray. Hope this helps:p

from what I can tell it's just a bunch of coils pinned to the back of her head one right after another and kind of tucked into each other.
and I think the hair has been sectioned into two from ear to ear.
