By now i can rope braid quite good. I like the look of ropes but the big problem comes when it gets to undo them. My hair just doesn`t want to untwist itself. Any tricks to get rope braids out without tangles and to convince the hair to lie flat again?

Maybe you can try untwisting/taking out the bulk of the twist with your fingers, do some finger combing, then mist your hair with some type of leave-in/detangler, and detangle the rest with a comb. Dampening your hair with the leave-in/detangler should help it lie flat again. With your hair type though, you might still get a bit of a wave.

My hair also doesn't like to untwist, so I try to do ropebraids only on wash days. I also have wurly fine hair, so when I carefully comb the twists out I end with big poofy hair, but maybe you could try it. Not sure if it'll work though.

I'm going to watch this thread to see if someone has a solution!

Maybe oiling your hair beforehand would help.

Mine does that too - the only way it doesn't re-twist is if I wash it. Really a non-issue for me, though, as I only wear rope braids on the day I wash.

I like the way mine looks after being in a rope braid. I leave it alone.
