Recently, I have been practicing a six-strand round braid - and today I finally managed to make a fairly good one, and have one of my nieces take a picture of it.:happydance:
So here it is!! :D

Oh wow! GREAT job! :cheese: I'm extremely impressed, I'm already having too few fingers to do the four stranded braid, lol.

Impressive! I cannot imagine how to hold and braid six strands at once with only two hands!? Congratulations :)

Beautiful braid!! I'm impressed with your ability to work with that many strands. I have a hard enough time working with three. :o

I've been thinking of doing this braid too!! :cheese: Is it the same technique as for a box braid?

Thank you all for your compliments! :flower:
This braid was very fiddly to do, and starting it was certainly difficult! It got a bit easier when I had managed to start it properly, though. :D
And Melanie Marie, it is the same sort of technique as the 4-strand box braid. I found the instructions here (https://hairfriendlystyles.wordpress.com/2011/01/04/day-98-6-strands-round-braid/). :)

Wow, I've tried that one and it's a toughie to get down! My fingers get all confused every time I attempt this braid. Yours looks beautiful! I hope I'll be able to make a braid that looks half as nice as yours does someday! :flower:

@ ALVRODUL...

Thank you, thank you, thank you for that FANTASTIC LINK!!!

I've just spent the better part of an hour perusing the many wonderful tutorials..and gawking at the terrific photos! My, she certainly is one talented lady..with great hair to boot!

She really should write a book! There hasn't been a decent braiding book since "Braids and Styles for Long Hair by Andrea Jeffery and Vickie Terner was published in 1988 (by Zopfe - Calgary, Alberta, Canada).

I am so impressed..and majorly inspired! Thanks again!

Thank you, girls, for all the lovely compliments! :flower:

I am glad you liked that site I linked to, Madora - I have that site bookmarked, and her explanation was incredibly useful when I was learning to do a four strand box braid (and this six strand braid, too, of course!)
I tend to visit it sort of semi-regularly - like when I want to figure out something special, and certainly if I want to try a new braid, since I find her descriptions so good and useful!

Very nice!! So far I've managed to learn how to do a Dutch braid, and a herringbone. WOOT, WOOT!! Not sure as to what to learn next.
