Torrin page just does 2 two strand braids and she has a tutorial on it, I'm sure you can do it other ways but I have no idea how.

You can make two regular rope braids individually and twist them together. Or you can twist 4 sections and make the 4 strand braid that way, keeping them in a rotating order. Having enough fingers to do this is the tricky part. The look of each is different.

This is how I do them:
1) divide into 4 strands
2) start on the right, cross over 2 strands toward the left, come back under 2nd strand
3) left strand crosses 2 strands toward the right, come back under the 2nd strand

Repeat 2 then 3 to end.

Thanks everyone:D i tried the 2 rope strand and roped them together and amazingly they stayed together i can only just do a 2 stand rope braid so there's no way i could do a 4 strand one but thanks Spidermom excellent instructions.

It looks great in a rose bun and holds brilliantly.
