Of the hair I still have left. I LOST so much!! It's looking worse every month. This is so scary. Again, no reason for the cause for my lost. It's devistating.

i'm sorry to hear that. Have you seen a doctor? If so, have they done tests?
In the meantime, can you wear scarves or bandanas to give yourself more confidence?

I just saw your other thread and realise you have seen doctors. Have you had the appointment with the hormone specialist yet?
I understand this must be very scary for you. I hope you find some help soon
Hugs xxxx

I haven't seen him yet. Not until I have the money for it. Next week I am seeing another dermatologist for my scalp SD.

Seriously, can SD really damage follicles all over the hair like this??? I thought it was only the affected area(which is the crown right now). But why must I receed in the front also... I don't get it.

I'm not even stressing it any more, bc I got tired of stressing over it.

Here is a picture I took today. I had to brighten the picture so you can see the contrast better against the background...

Trust me, i've seen doctors but none of them can tell me what is the cause. I have done tests and everything came out fine.

I'm so sorry to hear this has happened to you. :(

Hang in there, get to see the doctor, and hopefully it will be a simple fix. :grouphug:
I once began losing hair, and I genuinely found the more sad I got over it, the more came out.. Keep smiling, and remember that we are our own worse critics, and just because your hair has thinned it doesn't make you any less beautiful to the world, so keep smiling and it will all work out. :)

Big hugs to you! :grouphug: I had an insane (but short lived) shed when starting BC so I've had a taste of how frusterating and scary it can be. All I can say is that there is a cause. You are on the right path by seeing multiple doctors. I had awful chronic hives a while back and it took me years and at least 10 doctors before I got diagnosed and cured :). When you find the right doctor you will find the cause and get treated just don't give up.

Keep keep keep asking your doctor for help. A squeaky gate gets the oil :).. . In the mean time try to relax (stress can make things worse) and keep posting so we know you are ok. :)

Check your environment for toxins like air fresheners, pesticides, cigarette smoke, solvents, new carpeting or particleboard, mold, newly painted walls, scented body care products, scented household cleansers and laundry products (particularly fabric softener), gasoline or diesel fumes, or charcoal grills (to name a few). See if your diet contains food colorings, preservatives, or additives. Sensitivity to chemicals, whether or not you are aware of the chemicals bothering you, can cause massive hair shedding. Most doctors, most tests will not detect it. There is a thread started about growing hair with chemical sensitivities. PM me if you like. It can't hurt to eliminate the chemicals and see if you get better.

Are you experiencing hairloss all over your head as a general thinning, just thinning on the top, or in patches? It is possible you may be experiencing some form of alopecia.

I'm so sorry your going through this. Hair loss and thinning is devastating! It looks like you've gotten some good advice here already. I have had severe hair loss also. I think mine was from my thyroid and from my own unrealized hair abuse. Coconut oil mixed with castor oil has made a huge difference in the strength of my hair. I do this once or twice a week. Huge difference!!!!!
I can feel your pain and frustration. I searched forever, woke up thinking about hair, went to sleep thinking about my hair.
Is the SD caused from food allergies? Have you been tested for these?
Have you prayed about it??
Keep us posted.

Carpeting? Interesting. I do have carpets in my apartment. My place is always chilly too. I even thought that may play a role too. Probably not.

I do use fabric softener for my sheets, but soaps are unscented and for sensitive skin. I'll eliminate the softener. I will keep all of that stuff in mind. Thanks!

Hairloss all over with thinned out roots. I'm not shedding as much as I did at first. I don't think more can fall off, bc so much has fell off already.

I tested for that and it came out negative.

I'm going to see what this dermatologist has to say.

Oh I have prayed and prayed like you have no idea.

I don't know what causes SD to be honest.

I've done a food allergy test. I have to stay away from dairy and eat eggs once a week.

I'm also doing castor oil massages couple days a week. Lets see.

Hugs, honey. I'm in a similar situation. I have alopecia areata, which means my immune system attacks my own hair follicles, leading to random bald spots on my head. I currently have a big one and a smaller one, and trust me, it's nothing to be proud of when you're growing your hair. I feel your pain, and I hope you figure out what's causing this.

I totally empathize - I'm also going through a similar thing; I've also been to doctors, and other than low iron and my thyroid issues, they don't really know of a cause or a solution.

I'm following a regimen of vitamins etc. to see if that helps - I've posted it on my blog here.

: ( I hate that. I really hope that the shedding slows down more. I remember getting on BC and than getting of BC both times I had very very bad shedding. Never doing hormones again. Its not worth it. Things will get better, just hang in there youll be happy you did.

Hi all. I haven't updated this thread in a while, bc I was giving my roots some time.

I have good news....

The excessive shedding has stopped. Only a few in the shower, but that's normal. I am growing out bangs! It looks like I cut little bangs, but it's my baby hairs. Thank God. It was the part I was the most embarrassed about(the front receeding area). It still needs to fill in more but it's looking good so far. So I am happy about that. :) There are baby hairs all over the place.

My SD still hasn't gone completely but has calmed down a lot and should be gone soon. My dr have me a good shampoo and solution spray. The medicated stuff is making my ends and older hair dry and frizzy looking. It looks bad on the bottom, so i'm going to keep cutting the ends til that's gone. Aside from all of that, I am happy things are changing for the better. :)

I feel your pain. I had thyroid surgery and breast cancer surgery w/in 10 months of each other. I just wear my hair up a LOT, and pray that it will eventually get better. I'll add you to my prayers, too.

I would see a doctor as soon as you can, though. I also understand how hard that can be. I was w/o a job or insurance for awhile, and the kids were the only ones that went to the doctor.

I hope things get better soon.

It's great to hear your hair is growing back! I know how stressful it is to have thinning hair... and being embarrassed because of how pitiful it looks. I still have some embarrassment with my hair (which is why I never wear braids lol). But it does get better!
