finally got my hair the color I wanted it - White!

Now for the hair timeline of what it took me to get here.

First my hair was this color
http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/33470_1388763478822_1224147355_30841623_4784244_n. jpghttp://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/60331_1388763278817_1224147355_30841622_8055337_n. jpg

I had stopped hennaing my hair and just decided to let it grow

then I shaved the side as part of a truth or dare (sorry for the profanity there)

then I started bleaching, these next few are bleaching sessions after bleaching sessions with a few weeks in between each bleach

eventually ended up with this

did a toner, stupid sallys chick gave me a beige toner instead of a purple one like I asked. I was sitting there freaking out thinking it was gonna dye my hair back to brown but it didnt come out bad, it was a bit beige and matched my skin tone more but wasnt what I wanted

I had white hair like this too until winter 2010. I love white hair! My hair is thin but I didn't lose any hair either. Yay for strong hair!

I love your white hair. :) The root touch ups are extremely difficult to match to the same tone of white as your ends though. And I pray for your ability in keeping your hair happy! Beware of the splits :(! Protein Ion treatments really helped me restore texture.

Anyway, I love that you had the bravery to go white and hope you enjoy your hair :D I pray my hair will one day go white again with old age (hehe)

Er. I don't want to be, um, all party-pooper and all, but I doubt you're going to be able to grow it much. Um. Most times, bleaching your hair this much will just make it break off if you try to grow it past APL...I wish you luck, anyway!

Aphogee two step protein treatment. Get it and use it, Sally's has it. It saved my hair.

I bleached my hair white a while back, it was much shorter than yours. It seemed fine for about a month but then started breaking off in clumps. Be careful and don't be too surprised if your length can't hold up long term this color. It does look nice though, I miss my white hair.

You'll likely have to battle yellowing over time as you wash. Manic Panic Virgin Snow toner worked really well for me, I added a bit to my shampoo.

That is some intense bravery! I don't think I've ever quite colored my hair that much!

I am happy you got what you wanted. I am curious to see how long you keep it for and how maintenance works out.

Luckily you'd look great short, so if you loose length it won't be too bad!

Would a different option to get white hair be to use a colour strip/ complete removal, then dye it white? Just a thought.

I don't see how you can dye your hair white without just removing all the colour from it (so by bleaching it a LOT). I don't think it's possible to put a white colour over another colour!

P.S. - my hair is becoming more white every day! (well, it was before the red-violet)

Someone at my fitness club has white hair at the ends, with various shades of yellow up to the darkest shade at the scalp. It doesn't look like she ever trims it, and it's been just short of APL for at least 4 years now. I didn't see a goal length, so maybe this will be all right for you. Oh; just saw that you have "butt" as your goal length. I don't think that's going to happen with the bleached white hair. Maybe APL.

Nope, a color stripper is designed to lighten a permanent color from your hair. It will not remove the natural pigment, for that bleach is required. There is no such thing as a white hair dye, to get white you must first bleach it to a very pale yellow and then apply a violet toner to neutralize the yellow tones.

I have to give you credit for having the courage to bleach it so many times. I did it twice a couple of years in between and my ends really suffered, i had to cut so much length when i was almost tailbone which is why I came to terms my dark brown hair, and wear a wig if i ever want to go too light.
Just my opinion, no offence intended but I think you looked really pretty with your longer darker hair, although the white is nice, the condition is not as good.
I think if my hair had endured all that abuse it would have fallen off at the roots by about the 4th sitting.

People, people, sure it looks a little fried (understandable with so many bleachings) and we all know that bleach is not good for hair but the bottom line is that she is happy with it. Isn't that what LHC is about? Growing long hair and most of all, loving the way it looks. :)

my hair has already grown 3 inches since I started bleaching it - I had a helluva time trying to get my roots to match the rest of my hair. the roots are still a teeny bit off but its good enough for me (for now) I know my hair must be super damaged by now but its holding off nicely, not too much breakage, not like when I first started and was using strong bleaches. My hair doesnt feel much different in texture at all. Before it felt like rubber when wet and when it dried if felt like I put a whole bottle of hair spray in my hair. It was fried crispy. Now its much drier and less curlier but im conditioning it often to see if the texture improves

I liked the manic panic virgin snow but it didnt last long at all in my hair. Wellas white lady toner lasts longer and I use shimmer lights conditioner to keep my hair white. I like how white my hair is after its been freshly toned but after a while the white color starts getting duller and duller and eventually I just tone it again

my hair may look like cotton candy and its true I dont mind - I like cotton candy but I should say I'm not very good at brushing my hair every day, most of the time I keep it in a bun and when I feel like taking pictures I just poof it out

my hair is very wavy like in this picture (a little hard to see because the sun is beaming on my hair) if I let it air dry

Christine1989 you have just said pretty much the same thing that Jojo stated in her post and I agree with her (and you too). ;) Just our honest opinion, that's all. If the OP is happy with white hair then that is the only thing that matters. I do think that her original hair is very pretty and much less maintenance. I don't know if she will be able to grow her hair as long as she wants though with all that processing...

The great thing about hair is that you can experiment; have as many changes as you want, colour it, perm it, grow it out, chop it, and grow it back again! :D :blossom:

and yes I agree that my hair may not grow as long as my goal was when I first joined the lhc - I read about a girl that used to bleach her hair blonde and her hair never grew past her shoulders in 3 years. My hair is growing, it has already grown since I started bleaching it and cut it to my shoulders, I wouldn't be surprised if it started breaking off either so I'll just continue to condition it and I'll try some protein fillers I've heard about - I dont really think it'll do much difference though

Honestly looking at what you posted later on, your hair texture barely changed at all with all the bleaching. Some hair is definitively stronger than others, so you might be surprised how long you can get... Just remember Protein treatments will be your best friends!

It's not the first time people have said chemically treated hair cannot reach certain lengths and be wrong, just make sure you keep the breakage at bay and I'd suggest regular micro trims...I honestly like the color and I really hope you get to your desired length.

You look awsome! I also think you look like Storm.

There doesn't look to be much of a change in the texture of your hair. If you had super-straight shiny hair before I would have been concerned about damage. But your hair seems very resistant to the damage bleach causes. As long as you are aware of the fact that your hair probably is a lot more fragile no than it was before, and if you try to compensate for that by being extra careful, I think you still can grow your hair a lot longer if you want to.

True; you may get more length than I was predicting. I was behind a woman in line once. Her hair was bleached to a very light blonde (not white though), and it was hip length. I was really amazed by the condition of it, which wasn't too bad, considering how processed it was. Of course, she may have grown it long before she bleached it.

Very cool!! My natural hair is very porous & poofy too...so it can stand a little bit of processing without too much damage.
