I can have some very, very pretty up do's done (refer to my small photo album) that are classy and sophisticated, sometimes casual and chic. But, they ALWAYS end up looking like I've partied it up for twelve hours at the wildest party imaginable even ten minutes after I put my hair up!

This is no freakin' halo.. this is demonic aura that makes me look dirty. (See, the wild bush around the nape of my neck in all the pictures? If you can't look at albums, refer to the siggie.) I have tried EVERYTHING to get rid of this.

I have:

*Gelled.
*Hairsprayed
*Pinned and pinned and pinned until the whole nape of my neck looks like a beginner's quilt and YET, I have wild hair all over the place.
*Shaved.
*Waxed.
* Done lower up-do's
* Curled them, but since they're so short, I can only curl with a mini flat iron as they simply won't stay in a rag curl. I'm afraid to damage these little suckers.
* Braid them, but they don't stay in place.

I am at my wit's end. I am tempted to go wax/shave again but that only makes things worse when they start growing back in!! (in-grown hair, stubble.. for a while, as a kid, I shaved.. and I found myself shaving higher up each time until I almost had an undercut.

Anyone else has this problem? Better yet, anyone know how to get rid of this?

I find myself staring at women's napes filled with Envy.

Oh, I like your wispies. I think they add to the softness of the up-do, especially in your looser braided styles. I'm afraid I'm not going to be of much help!

Well you know, it's probably really obvious to you, but nobody else probably notices your wispies at all! I get them myself, and I think a lot of other people do too ;).

I really believe that most of us see our own problems with our hair so much more magnified than anyone else would ever see them! I mean, you read posts where people talk about their "bad hair" and it usually looks quite nice!

Embrace the wispies! I surrendered to their power.... :)

I try taking pride in my baby hairs everywhere :) Healthy growing! :) And they build character, as my friend always says.

I tend to wear a wide hairband while my hair dries in a damp bun and that seems to help encourage my wispies at my nape and at the front too to lay with the rest of the hair, maybe worth a go? They still escape but they behave a bit more :)

I think they look so charming!

Sometimes I'll get attacked by the nape-wispies. I usually clip them down using a couple of snappy clips. Same goes for the ones on top.

But yeah, they're not all that bad. Most people never notice them.

I think your wispies look fine! :flower:
I have them too, but I like them and even try to emphasize them by making messy updos so that they soften the overall look. :)

I also really like your kitty. :crush:

I think the reason I'm so irritated with them is because they extend from the nape of my neck to right behind my ears. I just have that much hair. :(

Sometimes, it looks attractive. Often most, I find it looking dirty and unkempt and the clippie clips just don't hold them (they keep sliding upward until the baby hairs are out. >.<)

Oooh.. great Idea. I shall have to do this next wash.

Me too. I miss the little guy. </3

i'm growing so many baby hairs since I started to take care of my hair I think in the future I may become a happy ii.
I have really thin hair at ends now, so it really makes me happy that it will be better someday, so I TRY not to bother with my halo of baby hairs, but it's very annoying, my biggest problem is that when I do up-dos, eventually it 'falls' even when I pin it like crazy..I think the ends cannot support the crown's weight.
but I'm not complaining, not complaining! I just want to have thick hair :D

Well, I get aggravated with mine (they get tangly) and cut them to about an inch long every few months, so I'm probably not the one to ask. Cutting them off at that longer length at least prevents the progressive undercut thing, though. What about putting a little gel on them and twisting them around your finger to encourage them to form a curl?

I have some of these too from old pony tail breakage I'm growing out. Have you tried coconut oil before? It makes mine stay where I place them and kind of slicks them down. If you put a good bit, they will probably stay.
