I really love the 60's bee hive look and have been wondering if this would work. If I cut a doughnut ring in half and placed it under my hair to give height, would this work?

Ive tried bump its and don't like them I feel like the scratch my scalp. I love doughnut rings for buns and I am thinking of trying this but will it work? TIA

I'm sure this will work a lot better than bumpits, and if it doesn't work that well at least it's not much money wasted, as those things tend to be cheap :) Also I think it'd blend better with your hair and give a more realistic shape rather than these strange flat arches sitting on top of your head.

Another idea would be saving your shed hairs and making a rat you can tuck or pin under your hair to add volume. It'll blend in perfectly!

The shop I got my donut from does a different shaped one, which looks like it would give that effect. It was just a bit longer and more oval, so cutting a donut in half might have the same effect. Bumpits don't work for me either but I like this idea!

Maybe something like *this* (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTbits.html) will do the job?
I'm sure these thingies are cosier on the head than BumpIts.

Sorry to distract, but what is this donut you speak of? I can't imagine you are putting pastries on your head.

Donut rings are donut-shaped bun cushions. You slip them over a pony tail, fan the hair over the donut and pin it in place.:D

In German, with pics: http://kupferzopf-flechtfrisuren.de/Duttkissen.htm

In short, you take an old sock, cut a small hole in the toe section and roll the whole thing into a donut-shaped thingy.

it would take me forever to collect shed hairs; I hardly shed apart from September!

Hey, jojo, what happened about the cut in half donut idea? I tried 'bumpits' (such a rude name, lol) and thought it gave a very hard-edged look. Any tips for me?
