Have you ever seen a french twist like this?

I'm going to try it, it seems like you just do a twist and let the end of the ponytail dangle out. Any other thoughts about how it's done? How it would work on longer hair?

I had something very similar to that when I got married :-)

That's how my in-process French twists look (^(oo)^)

Since I have too much length for a traditional french twist, I do a modified one. I start the same as a traditional one, gathering the hair in a low ponytail at the nape, twisting it up towards the crown. Obviously there's a lot of excess length left when I reach the crown. I take the excess length and fold it back towards the nape, tucking it underneath the main portion of the twist. That leaves me with an extra tail bit hanging out at the bottom, like so:

I would imagine with wavy hair that would achieve something similar to your photo. Obviously with my stick-straight hair it's not ideal, so I pin the length around the outside of the twist instead (^(oo)^)

uck !! sorry, I didn't get married in the day of the digital camera .. lol !! I just had a look at the best one that shows the back, you can't really see the actual twist as I have my fower and lace slide comb there .. my hairdresser piled the top half of my hair in curls then twisted the rest of the hair leaving a tail that she also curled (lots of hairspray there too .. I'll take a photo of the photo as I don't have a scanner .. lol .. you won't see much of the twist tho remember that .. k ..

luxepiggy, your twist looks really good !! :-)

ETA: I took photos of the photos but they didn't turn out :-( I did get one good shot because it was a blown up photo but it really doesn't show much of the back .. it's a side view so I'll put that one up .. it's in Hairstyles I try album because I can't post attatchments yet :-)

I've been seeing this over at the Loom recently, it may have been an older thread, don't remember.

Lots of braiding books show how to style this.

Here (http://www.youtube.com/user/lovehairblogUK#p/u/0/RGlOftssSNA) is a version from Loreal UK

luxepiggy, that is really cute! I'm totally trying that when I have enough of a tail left over after a french twist.
