View Full Version : My hairy thought today!

MonaLisa

Alright, so this is kind of a game, inspired by discovering all the fun games there in the offtopic:cheese:
Reason I didn't start the topic there is that i think this isn't offtopic! But if you think i made mistake, feel free to move this where it should be :o

So, tell us first thing that crosses your mind when you think of your hair today! Quick and honest.

The next person comments/replies only to the person above and shares his/her own hairy thought of the day!

I'll start....

I want to learn to make the sock bun:rolleyes:

The roots are kind of oily, but oh my gosh, it feels so smooth from that treatment I did four days ago.

I wish I knew more updos [that would turn out like they're supposed to, and that I can do myself].. I just have it in a basic bun at the moment. :P Note to self: learn to french braid my own hair [I know how to do it, just not on myself]

Good luck with the french braiding.
When should I wash this Argan oil out of my hair?
Ach, tomorrow will do!

tinti
April 13th, 2011, 06:01 AM
Vanity acefake, I have no idea :p Guess tomorrow is fine though :D
I NEED to find some styling options other than claw clip and sloppy half pulled through messy bun thing :p

Elleyena
April 13th, 2011, 07:21 AM
Tinti - Might I suggest a half up/half down look? Those waves in your hair would look gorgeous loose, and the bun would set it off. I tend to use the Split bun and take a couple of the loose strands from the front and twist them into the bun :)

Hmm...I'm contemplating starting the Morrocan method of trimming by the moon for length tomorrow. Think it might work for me?

Now I remember why I don't like the Garnier TN Hair mask stuff ... the fruit pit/sand grainy stuff. Humph. But my hair is really soft now. Double humph.

pepperminttea
April 13th, 2011, 07:31 AM
Elleyena: If you need a trim anyway, it can't hurt to see if the moon phases do anything for you. :)

If I keep S&Ding, will there ever be a point when I can't find splits? (Ah, that'd be nice.)

Should I use jojoba oil in my braid today? There's a shortage... I could just use coconut :p

spidermom
April 13th, 2011, 10:04 AM
I think S&Ding breeds splits. The more I did it, the more I found.

Why should I care so much about my hair? Life would be so much simpler without it.

I am in serious need of a wash. I wonder if that oil mix thing (http://www.etsy.com/transaction/47082323) I have for my skin would be good on hair too...

Have to wash my hair today because I'm going out. Its been a week but with nightly baths I don't feel dirty at all. Thinking I may try to wear it down with the outfit I'm planning...I used to love it down...now i get frustrated with it after a little while but it looks good down. Hope it drys before I have to leave...

My hair feels VERY clean this morning. I washed it very well last night and I just laundered the pillowcases the other day.

Another thought: I wish I could trim off the damaged ends already. I'd like to comb my fingers all the way through it without catching on that last inch. But I promised myself I'd stop hacking off tresses until it was long enough to afford some length.

My hair is surprisingly not too greasy, despite not having been washed since Sunday. Perhaps it's adjusting? Or perhaps it's just because I used a different shampoo and conditioner. My hair always loves that first wash with something different.

my hairy thought of the day; why does an inch cut off seem more than a inch grown???

pinkbunny
April 13th, 2011, 02:56 PM
jojo - could it be the whole "glass is half empty/full" perspective dilemma?

I should've done a cinnamon lightening today, just like I should've yesterday. Will I procrastinate again tomorrow?

Can I suggest trying doing a Dutch braid in your hair? It is technically an inverted French braid that may look absolutely beautiful in your hair.

My hair has seemed in the state of 'it's getting a little greasy, I'll need to wash it tomorrow' for days now! Odd - I mean it's not greasy yet, exactly, there is some oil but it just looks shiny...

I thought after my first CWC wash it was going to get greasy really fast, but no, it's been shiny for days now! :cheese:

Yeah, I agree, it's pretty awkward. But hang in there, we can do this ;)
Hmmm, should I wash today? Or just oil it? My hair has sucked up all the EVCO I aplayd a couple of days ago! Never happened before, might be the highlights...

I need to get my hands on some amish pins. These U-pins are too flimsy in my thick hair (I'm only ii, dangit!) that I end up with a pressure headache from where the tips cross over one another for support. Ouch! To master it on your own head, start by putting it half up in a clip, you know, the part that you'd start out with when you braid someone else's head. It will give you the hair stability and compliance you need until it's more natural for your hands. That's how I learned as a kid! :)

Have to wash my hair today. Been avoiding it since I had my toe all stitched up and they said not to get too wet. @_@. Going to try a "Henna n placenta" treatment today. Something I haven't tried in forever. Lots of protein. I was bored of SMT's though I'll probably follow up with one just in case. My ends have been tormenting me. Very tangly and giving me hell. Seems like they just don't feel the same and its depressing. Don't think it could be build up. Haven't been using that much oil. Hoping my treatments go good. Tonight DBF is playing at a battle of the bands and i get to meet his favorite sister whose coming to town. Hope I have any clean laundry. I want to wear my hair down...If all the oil gets out...and its not poofy or something from this treatment.

Also why doesn't all the oil always wash out? I can never seem to get it all out. I CWC but sometimes just do a simple Wash/condition...but it seems like theirs always a bit let in my hair. CO doesn't get it all out either...and i would feel bad scrubbing my length. Bah!

On a positive note my hair is long enough to sit on now. Classic here i come! :D. Hopefully if I get a trim it won't set me back too terribly much. I need to start wearing it down more..and getting used to it. I hate how much it bothers me down now when i used to love it.

I have a lot of hair thoughts today haha :D

ETA: Still need to upload the pix of the blue I put in my bangs...It was my first time bleaching. I need to quit letting things get in the way and just do it because its already grown out a bit and faded >_< Wonder if i should do it to the same spot again >.>

I do love the color of henna on everyone else. I'm just afraid! I've only ever once in my life colored my hair and that was just a 'lightening' blonde that turned my hair brassy, about 20 years ago. I know henna is natural and all but it's so permanent. Still, I've always wanted to try red(dish) hair without chemical damage!

Alex Lou
May 12th, 2011, 01:43 AM
I always thought french braids were so hard. I could never do them. Then I started practicing during down time at school (no mirror) and it ended up being pretty easy to learn. I'm still not sure that I can do it in front of mirror, but I have no reason to try. Maybe you can try it by feel?

My thought: I need to learn to wrap my hair. My iron broke and my longish side-bangs won't behave. But whenever I try to wrap it, it ends up a mess.

It's been a learning experience finding reliable "workout" hairdos... I feel most comfortable with some kind of braid(s) because they don't pull on my head, but I worry about it whipping around as I jump, bend, reach, etc. Also, I've been wondering about the effects of excessive perspiration on hair - is it good? bad? should it be rinsed ASAP or is it ok to let it marinate?

I wonder how much Monistat could increase my hair growth. If I normally grow about .75 inches per month, and I've heard of hair growing 2-4 times faster with Monistat, that would be like me growing 1.5 to 3 inches per month! With that, I could have a 10 inch bob in 2-4 months!! I'd be trimming the back every week...

Hair is greasy, bun is half falling out, but if I redo it it will probably be too tight, and my hair will look greasier. Also, how is it that after nearly 50 days of keeping my hair in protective updos and looking after it right it is half an inch shorter than it was when I started?

I ordered a bunch of henna to use on my sister, but I'm wondering if I should use it on myself too? I was intending to get to waist and maintain untill I grow out my layers, so that I have nice long virgin hair, and THEN experiment with henna/cassia/amla/indigo, but i wonder if it's worth it. It will take two years for the shortest pieces to be at waist, and by then I will have so many urges to cut (because of layers). Henns might be the change I want. But I'm afraid. What if it doesn't suit me? I love my dark hair and i want to go as close to black as possible, but I don't know if the red highlights will suit me. However, I already have a bit of red in my hair. I just keep imagining these horror scenarios.

Screw it, I'm hennaing my hair as soon as it gets here!!!

Even though I've spent the last couple days since my last wash doing hard physical sweaty work, my roots are not at all oily and I can put off washing for another day. I suspect this is because 1) I've been wearing a bandana the whole time too, and I think it may be wicking away some of the sweatiness and 2) I usually can't keep my hands out of my hair. Being busy busy busy, and keeping it braided and covered and inaccessible, means I haven't been touching it hardly at all. Fascinating.
