I'm a newbie to LHC. I have always tried to take good care of my hair, but I am really applying the LHC tips now.
That said I cut my bangs in August and they have grown 4 inches, which means I get normal growth rate, but it seems like my lengths don't gain as much as my bangs...
Does hair grow uneven or is it just a matter of retention?

Do you have a measurement for the rest of your hair from August? It might just not be as noticeable in your length. I think parts of your hair can grow 'better' than the rest, like the left side could grow slightly faster than the right side.

Just starting measuring when I joined LHC, the only reason I know how long my bangs have grown is that they were at my eyebrows, now they are at my lips, so I measured that way.
I'm planning to measure every two months now so I don't obsess, I can update this thread around May 15th with bangs growth and length growth.

It'd be nice if your bangs do grow quicker than the rest of your hair; your hair will be all one length faster (nice if that's what you're going for) ;)

not sure yet i'm thinking of getting them to collarbone length and kind of transitioning them into long layers so to speak.

I have bangs that seem to grow "faster" than the rest of my hair too. I think in my case it is because I have abit of damage on my lengths and the breakage is negating any growing that is happening in the lengths... I am slowwwly cutting this off cause I dont want to loose too much length by doing a big chop eep!
I am actually REALLY sick of my bangs right now so I am pleased to see them growing "quickly" hehehe.
Not sure if this is the case for you or not.
My hair also seems to grow unevenly ever since I can remember, when I was a kid my mum thought I had done a sneaky self haircut because one side of my hair was shorter than the other hahaha so I imagine that there might be variations of speed in hair growth too.
Or as someone else noted it could just be a perception thing... sounds like the measuring tape is the way to go if it is bothering you then you can get the cold hard facts!
Good Luck! :)

My best friend noticed some days ago, I have an inverted V- or U-Shape. My bangs are almost hip when streched out and the rest of my lenght is waist. But I really know my bangs have been shorter some while ago.

Oh I know just what you mean. My fringe has to be trimmed every 2 weeks. My sides seem to grow very slowly and the back is pretty fast. I flat iron my fringe everyday without protection too!

I have the opposite problem, my bangs grow SLOWER than the rest of my hair. They are taking FOREVER to get long enough NOT to bug me falling down in my face & not staying back with the rest of my hair. I cut them a yr. ago last Feb. about eyebrow length & they are just now at chin length. But at least they are growing some.

I find the same thing with my bangs :) I think it's partially because they are shorter to begin with, so any increase in length is proportionally larger, ie. if your length is 25 inches, half an inch more isn't as noticeable as half an inch on hair that's 4 inches long. (percentage-longer wise.)
I also heard from someone here that hair "wants" to be all length. I think it goes along with the George Michael philosophy, which I'm no expert on, but I believe that it had something to do with shorter hairs growing more quickly to catch up with the rest. I'll see if I can get the real explanation for you :)

I used to think this too, but bangs you just notice growing and the rest is just hanging there, plus bangs dont have any breakage..

I think it's mostly that the bangs just don't have that much breakage so you don't 'lose' length. I feel the same way about my hair but it sort of makes sense I suppose :)

It's common for some areas of your scalp to grow hair faster than other areas. Mine tends to grow a little faster on the right than the left.

I think my bangs grow the same rate as my hair it's just more noticeable.
