Newbie in need of help  I've been using the water-only method and it was actually quite usefull since I recently had a spiral fracture on my toe :p .
I've been getting itches, scabs, and ever since I switched my hair line (have been since I was a little girl) crazy halos/head fuzz....(I don't think their new growth since the strands are quite long) on my now flat scalp.

Since I can't lean backwards while washing maybe it's because I'm leaning forwards? Or maybe I don't preen enough/correctly?
I don't know why I'm getting this since my water is soft and I wash only when dirty.
I've heard of tea-tree oil but can't find it anywhere and so far acv/herbal rinses haven't helped.

It's not very noticeable but it can be annoying.
I've also noticed an increased amount of frizz when I switched to WO.
I'm thinking of switching combs.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance :D

Might be worth getting a pharmacist or doctor to have a look, it's possible you have seborrhoeic dermatitis (greasy dandruff).

Water only dried my hair to a crisp. I didn't find it made my SD any worse though.

Not all scalps like water-only. Mine loved it, but others hate it and start shedding. This seems to be particularly true for people with seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Do try adding a dilute vinegar rinse at the end of your wash. That can help remove some sebum, in my experience, and it's often useful at keeping the scalp happier.

When I did WO, I had less frizz, not more. Try to take a good look at the ends of the fuzz to see if they're split or tapered. New growth generally has slowly tapering ends.

Firefox7275- It's not visible or severe, but it's random, tiny scabs I run into that get me.
I will have to look into it to see if I have seborrhoeic dermatitis. I've never thought about that, that's good thing to look into :)

pelicano- My hair actually got drier as well, but if i give it a treatment weekly it became much better.
As for split ends I never check for those... just a tiny trim every 6 months to a year works for me :p

Anje- My scalp actually improved since I stopped S & C but maybe I do need to try other methods and see what works best for me.
Their is so much I haven't even attempted and not many resources I'm a little bashful about that.
I'll try using vinegar rinses more often and see what happens, thanks for that tip! :blossom:
I think the reason why I've gotten more frizz might be because the lack of cones.
Last time I checked the "standing" strands were split, but after 2 days or so it started calming down a little bit.

You might need to play around with your regime, also remember that what works will change with the seasons. So I find WO good in winter (with the occasional shampoo wash) because when the humidity drops, my skin dries out really fast if I use detergents. But in summer I use shampoo weekly and then do WO rinses or CO washes in between. It's taken me since last July or so to work this out! I do have SD- its a really individual thing, and what works for some people won't work for others. But there are some good threads on here about managing it.

Might also be worth looking at your diet to see if you have a good intake of anti-inflammatory foods, limit inflammatory ones, low on nasty additives. The skin is an organ of excretion, so one route by which the body kicks out waste. If you aren't then washing that off there is potential for irritation. Having said that it makes sense to try the vinegar rinse, since the solution may indeed be that simple! :p

Firefox7275 - I'm hoping it is simple! :p

Chiara - Yes I agree... maybe I'll start experimenting soon in the summer. I never knew the season could really affect your regime a lot though, for some reason my hair gets frizzy in spring when most others have theirs in the winter-time. I might start CO-ing and see if it helps. Since last July sounds like a long time to find a schedule for me, even though I know it's a long term-project. I do have split-ends I just don't really mind them; especially since my hair is thick and one split end is out-numbered by a bunch of other strands :)

Thanks for all the advice everyone! :cheese:
