Fishtail braid video - with neck brace?

I just came across this video of fishtail braiding (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAdghacbnpU), but if you look you'll see the model has a broad ribbon and 'something else' tied round her neck. One of the comments says, in the 'brusque' manner of so may Youtube commenters, 'is that a home made neck brace'. What I thought was that if it is a neck brace, then securing it with a big pretty ribbon was actually quite a clever move in that it looks prettier than the velcro..

It does kinda look like a cervical collar, plus some padding or something. Hard to say.

Oh man, I'm glad my Granny never got that idea. She would totally have made me wear one to do my hair!

And on a side note, I'm SO glad you posted that. I just did my very first fishtail braid! =) I've always wanted to learn, but never looked it up on YouTube.
