I'm currently sorting out childhood books (in order to tidy up + look for material for my feminist criticism studies :)). Anyway, one of the books have these beautiful pictures showing long, gorgeous hair , and I immediately thought "I have to post these in the LHC!!"
I had been thinking about starting a thread in which we long-hair lovers could post lovely paintings/drawings depicting hair. Because I love to paint and draw-hair being one of my special preferences :) - this idea of a thread attracts me a lot. And these paintings from the book I've talked about are the excuse to begin it all.
So - who among you want to share pics with beautiful long hair in them (scans, your own work, links, whatever!)?! :D:D
I've got to rush to my Irish class right now, but I'll be posting these pics as soon as I can!!

I tried starting this kind of thread a few months back, but it was just full of links. Which is still fine, but I'd much rather scroll through a thread and look at the photo on here than clicking through loads of links. I was under the impression you couldn't post them, but perhaps I'm wrong and thinking of only hot linking.

Is it acceptable to post photos of art straight to here to show up within the thread if they are from our album or Photobucket or something? Especially if we cite them. I'd love to contribute if so.

These photos are from the book The Classic Fairy Tales. The first photo of the three ladies is from a verion of Jack and the Beanstalk and the second is from Tommelise, which I think is a version of Thumbelina. I used to love looking at the hair on the three ladies when I was a little girl. Yes, the photo is kind of creepy but I used to marvel at all of that gorgeous hair!

Yes, well, I was thinking of inserting the scanned images directly from my album (citing them, of course). I've already scanned them, but I haven't had any time to upload them and post them here yet. Tomorrow!
I mentioned links because some people may prefer to link images they don't own, rather than inserting them as images and citing them.
Glad you want to contribute! :)

That confirms what I thought. I saw the pics earlier, and they're gone now. I guess we can't post the actual photos. (Although I don't know if she was hot linking or not....)

ETA: Haha, okay I can see them again now.... Strange.

I need some art in my bedroom. The walls are very bare. I think I want to find a hair painting of some sort and hang it! Maybe I could paint something! It would be very inspirational! :)

Whoops! Sorry, everyone. The site where I store my photos has been having server issues lately and is constantly up and down and up and down. I know I should get a Photobucket account, but I won't be able to access it from work.

It's a site run by friends of mine. If I was hotlinking, they would tell me.

This is a lovely idea for a thread! I love art, and long hair can be used so awesomely as a visual element.

I can see them too! :o Why would they hang those women by their hair, I wonder? They don't seem to be bothered in the slightest, too! Strange...:)
The first woman's red hair is just SO gorgeous!!

So here come the first pics I wanted to share! They are from a book called Tales of the Brothers Grimm. Illustrations are by A. Archipowa. This illustrator is really special for me, because she likes to depict people with knee length hair!!
Sorry in advance for the huge pics, I can't make them smaller!!

Rossetti's La Ghirlandata is one of my favourite paintings! That red hair is just SO lush. I copied the painting last Summer, but without colours, just pencil :).
And I love Pocahontas' hair too!

This wouldn't be a LHC thread without Rapunzel in it! So here are a couple of pics by A. Archipowa, from the same book about tales by the brothers Grimm:

I have a long hair digital illustration that I created a few weeks ago and have been preparing to sell on etsy, I'm thinking poster sizes... or do you think people would prefer prints? Pop-outs ready to hang cost a considerable amount, and Canvas would obviously be very expensive to print, but optimal. When you buy display art, what is your favorite medium?

I don't think I'm able to help much, I rarely buy display art...But in my case I prefer lighter mediums, I don't like huge heavy framings and the like. But that's just me, I suppose many people like them.
