hey again, i just have to express my feelings and need help ASAP please! my hair is 3b on top and like 3a 2c on the bottom for to much razor cutting as a child in the past 10 years. Well i got a trim like 2inches of curly and like 3 pulled. so i feel my curls are losing definition because i try not to use any gels anymore because of the ingridients but creams are not working for the weather is getting warmer. so any help how to get my defintion and make my hair softer? plus my hair is all one length when pulled straight

Some curlies use aloe vera gel for styling or make their own gel from flaxseeds. I haven't tried either but I am sure there will be some mention if you search one of the wavy/ curly support threads or the Recipes, Henna & Herbal Haircare board.

Oiling is a great way to make your hair softer.

I find Camellia and Argan oil work best to moisturize my curls. I look for shampoo/conditioner with moisturizing products in it as well. After my hair is all dry, I try to put a leave-in conditioner in it as well. Curls need moisture, moisture, moisture!!
I recently bought DevaCurl Angel (finally broke down and spent the money) after using several creams and not being satisfied with any of them. It held my hair without the crunchies and it gave me GREAT curls.
You have to find what's best for you! HTH!

Try to google "curly girl method" - that is an approach that is popular with curlies, but as a straightie, I have not probed deeply into that matter - the high points are use of lots and lots of conditioner and either very little or (preferably) no use of shampoo at all CO washing (conditioner only) method. There are also threads here on the forum about curly hair care, and probably also articles in the Articles section. The point of these methods is that cleaning the hair should not strip the hair of its natural oils, which shampoos prone to do.
CO washing leaves the hair clean and soft, and with its natural oils.
