I am going to trim my hair. I havent done it since December 2010, and I've started to notice split ends. If it was just few and upper in hair, I wouldnt be so eager to do it, but I've started noticing them at the very ends, and I think I've read somewhere here that fine hair does need regular trims.

This time i wont go to the salon, as I always walk out unhappy with result, and it seems really hard for them to cut only 1/2 inch, and I'm not willing to risk it.

But what I'm going to do is also risky, as I'm complete noob and never done it before.
Problem is my hair is very layered and I haven't found any instructions here on how to trim layers.
So any last tips?
I'm doing it in 2 days

Never tried it but I came across this via another recent thread. Might work? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYMyJ-LR8so

I have hair that has long layers and i just used feyes trim method for a straight across hemline and trimmed the layers by twisting individual strands of my layers and trimming tiny bits that were sticking out if that makes sense, that was back in December.

My top tip taking tiny amounts at first here's the article http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=198

Thanks! You seem to have done great job! That's encouraging.
I will try feyes method but for V line.
Now only still worrying a bit about how layers will turn out.

Will keep the top tip in mind also ;)
