I'm in a ballet class once a week (v. easy, it's the intro class), and I wanted to know of some ways I could wear my hair up without it being in my way or in a v. tight bun. When I do a "cheater" bun my hair falls right out. It's near APL but not quite there yet.

A very secure french twist might do it, or a peacock twist with a solid grip.

Edit: Oh, or a sock bun. I've done track in them. Very secure.

Apparently you can get a secure loose bun or French twist with spin pins.

Look for AnaheimBallet's video on YouTube. They demo three approaches to a ballet bun.

Thanks everybody. The Anaheim Ballet vid seemed to be something that I could do, especially the second one for short hair :)

Is it just the tightness you are worried about? Buns like that give me headaches, so I used the foam-covered-wire hairthings (several varieties) to make ballet buns. You can keep them quite loose.

for a beginner class? I'd probably just do a ponytail. Or a braid.
