This is probably a really silly question, but I'm not familiar with the term, and several people on LHC mention it on their routine.
I looked on google and youtube, and it seems to me that it's just some sort of gel/wax/butter thing to texturize hair. Like brillantine or something? I know I could be wrong.
It's just that English is not my first language, and in Portuguese, we use the word pomada to describe any sort of cream for skin, like vaseline, creams for burns or infections, anti-fungal creams, basically medical stuff for skin and mucous membranes. I think they're called ointments in English.
Seeing the word pomade aplied to hair products is confusing for me :o

taken from wikipedia-
Pomade (also called pomatum) is a greasy or waxy substance that is used to style hair. Pomade makes hair look slick and shiny. Unlike hair spray and hair gel, pomade does not dry and often takes several washes to remove. It can be easily removed using a high-detergent shampoo or other de-greasers such as olive oil, dish washing liquid and lemon juice.
Most pomades contain petroleum jelly (in fact, petroleum jelly can be used alone as a pomade) and mineral oil, and many also contain some sort of wax. They may be anhydrous or emulsified with an aqueous carrier, which makes them easier to remove. They may also contain perfume and coloring agents. A plethora of pomades are in production today and vary in factors such as weight, shine and scent. The stiffest will have a higher proportion of waxes such as beeswax while the lightest may have a higher proportion of oils.

When I think of pomade, I always think of the greasy, slicked, quiffed 1950s look men wore. It ruined a lot of hats!

In that family of styling products, I liked Natures Gate Styling Putty. It held beautifully, was nongreasy, and was easy to comb through. I've tried other products that were too much like glue.
I haven't been able to find the NGSP lately, though.
