Does anybody else's hair feel absolutely horrible around the time of their..ah.. 'little monthy visits'?
I've noticed that my normally smooth, shiny hair has gone all dry, frizzy, tangly and just plain horrible and unmanageable around my time of the month.
Anyone else get this? Or know why this happens?
(btw, sorry if there's already a thread on this.. couldn't find one when I searched it..)

My hair (and skin) looks worse during the " little monthly visit". I normally have an oily scalp, but during that week or so, my scalp produces even more sebum so I get that super slick look only hours after washing:( I`m not quite sure why this happens but it could very well be a hormonal thing. I`m sure there are others here who can explain this better than me:)

my hair gets greasy faster when it is that time, and my skin gets worse.
I think those 2 are linked though.

A week before and also during the "monthly visit", my skin gets pimply, more oily, and I notice my hair does the same. It certainly lacks a little oomph, and just won't fall into place. It's as if it's even more stubborn than usual.

Everything feels worse when it's my time of the month.

My skin gets a bit unpleasant a few days before it happens, it's like a mini warning sign for me haha. But I haven't noticed any change in my hair.

To be honest, I never really noticed. o.o
But if my hair condition (which right now it is the best it has ever been) is only caused because of my period, I will cry. I guess I'll find out soon enough as, thankfully, this new round of BC seems to have finally stopped the 3 month-long visit.
Yes. Three months. I will gladly take the four-seven day long 'curse' and call it a gift from now on.

Definitely. About a week before my period, my curl falls out, all strands become dry and lifeless, and nothing short of heat styling (which I don't do) helps to make my hair look halfway decent.
I have low blood pressure and feel depressed during that week too, so the connection is not hard to explain.
You're not alone. :flower:

Oh yes! My hair gets very dry and corse. No matter how much oil I put on, it's never enough. Then, overnight it gets so greasy and stringy. My folicles are either bone dry or clogged with oil. No in between. It also goes very straight for no reason.
On the plus side, my hair only takes about 30 minutes to dry (normally it takes hours). Hormones really mess with your system. It's the same reason you're not supposed to get a perm or color your hair during that time.

A big break-out on my face is one of my only reliable triggers for knowing when my time of the month will arrive. My scalp seems to get oilier faster then too, but my face bears the brunt. Just our luck, eh? :p

Luckily my hair doesn't seem to be affected by my period but it does do most of it's growing at the beginning of the month I wonder if that's related to hormones?

I always wonder how hair (the strands not the scalp) can be affected by something like this! I mean your hair is just strands of protein stuff, right, so how could it become more coarse or more or less curly during the time of the month??
I'm not questioning that this happens to people...I'm just wondering HOW?! I mean, I get the scalp producing more oil or sebum, but not the change in actual hair texture .

I've always been lucky as far as the "time of the month" issue is concerned since the whole "ordeal" lasts a grand total of two days. Still, I get an inexplicable nosebleed every time so I end up sitting in class with kleenex stuffed up my nose .

I don't have any skin/hair issues around my flow. My issues are all mood-based, LOL

I have to echo what everyone else has said so far, breakouts on my face and oily hair. Nothing like bleeding, cramping, bloating, breakouts, and oily hair to make a girl feel beautiful! lol

I haven't noticed any change in my hair but my face definitely looks different for a few days every month. I can't exactly put my finger on what's different about it, and I'm probably the only one who notices, but I think I look a little more tired than usual for a few days. Even though I feel OK.

Honestly, the only difference I've noticed is that since I feel like crap, I don't take as good care of my hair. I might go an extra day without taking a shower, or not re-braid it. So my hair does suffer the consequences during that time of month, but it's more voluntary than involuntary reactions.

I don't have hair issues during my period but shortly after ovulation it does get very... blah. Not really drier or frizzier just more tangle prone and limp. Those are definitely updo days.

Aside from all of the lovely TMI stuff, I never noticed any changes in my hair or skin when I'm having my "moon time."

I'm a neurotic mess around that time, so I'm guessing that's skewing my perception a bit. Seriously, I'll look in the mirror and see someone who is flat out not pretty and I'll swear on everything good and holy that I look objectively terrible. Wait a few weeks, and I'll love what I see in the mirror.
I haven't noticed any difference in oil production, which is the only way my body's time of the month would affect my hair, but that's probably because I wash my hair every other day.

I haven't noticed a difference in the texture of my hair, but I do think my growth rate slows in that week!
