This has been my quick go-to casual/messy updo of late, and I'm so pleased with it I thought I'd share. I think this is new.... Please correct me if I'm wrong! :o

1. Step One. Start as you would with an Orchid Bun (http://archive.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=40856): Twist and coil hair upward, then flip the coil from left to right (or R to L, depending on which way you twisted).

2. Step Two. Wrap the tail around the coil as you would for an Orchid Bun, but when you have about 4-6 inches remaining to be coiled, secure the tail to your scalp hair with a Ficcare beak, letting the tail flop over for a messy, casual effect. It will look like this:

3. Step Three. Now take the main coil and tuck it up into the end of the beak. The finished product will look like this:

Note: I've used a Medium beak here, but I could imagine one could use a Large for a more dramatic effect.

Thanks for looking -- hope this is inspiring to someone! :flower:

Beautiful hair and I love that style, a great one for us beginners. :p

Oh, I like that!

Does it stay tucked in to the end of the beak well?

Can I offer a small variation?
It's just when I saw the first picture I imagined the second picture to have the "loop" pinned under the ficcare.
Maybe I'll show some pics, If I find my only (broken) Ficcare...

PS. You have to name the style too!! It's yours :)

It does, surprisingly! Of course, I probably wouldn't go running in this style.... ;)

Yes, pics please!

As for a name.... Well, since it looks like the hair is pinned under the Ficcare when it's actually not, maybe "Trompe l'Oeil Beak Loop"?

Yes, I am a huge dork. :D

Ok I found my camera today so here you go, my (or rather my hairs) version:

Newly hennaed hair, didn't even need any bobby pins.

And don't worry about being geeky, I don't get it anyway :p

Very nice! I love buns with a somewhat deconstructed quality. Neat as a pin, every hair in place just doesn't suit me.

Don't worry about the geek thing.
1) I got it, so you're not alone.
2) Geeks are the future!
