Well...my own variation on one anyway!

I left a bit above the starting point loose so I could get an other fake swirl out of it. I really like the results! I think I might do this for work tomorrow and wear a vintage dress (even if it is freezing!).

Sorry for the fuzzy pics!

It looks great! What an accomplishment - I've never been able to do a presentable one.

Thank you :) Trust me there were a few kirby grips in there to neaten it up lol....the first few practices felt like my arms were about to drop off!

Good for you! Crown braids, either variety, are tricky. :) They sure are comfy though, dristibuting the weight of the hair nicely.

Nice job! I've been practicing them for quite a while now and they still look lopsided or I didn't pull tight enough.

That looks great! :D Unfortunately, I've never been able to do one that's acceptable for public viewing...I wear them at bedtime sometimes, because they're pretty comfortable!

It looks like you're a seasoned professional at crown braiding! I would have never believed that it was your first attempt if you hadn't said so. :)

Wow. That crown braid looks amazing, and your hair is beautiful.
I've tried one on my sister before and my arms were tired at the end, but to do that on yourself... your arms must have felt like lead.
I stand in awe. :thud:

Thanks for all the comments

They only take me about ten minutes (and a good few hair grips) to do but I'm at an advantage because I braid back to front on myself so any attempt at a French braid comes out Dutch, making this a lot easier for me than it would be for someone who usually does French braids....means my normal braids look a bit stupid though but silver linings I guess :D

I didn't follow any instructions, I just adapted my regular Dutch braids (which I realised I could do by accident a few months ago lol) to go right round my head, then wondered what to do with the left over tail and figured out that I could leave some out around my crown and get a second wrap from it. I'm terrible if there's instructions but I tend to eventually figure things out without them and in my own way lol.

I wore it like this to work today and got a few compliments but I think until my hair grows, I'll be keeping it in two Dutch braids pulled into a bun at the back which is a lot less messy at the moment.

That braid looks really cool! I can't wait to try a braid...I think it's called a waterfall french braid or something. It looks so cool!

Congrats! My arms always get tired by the time I need to start braiding it back up on the opposite side... and I get tangled trying to change the positioning of my arms. I always leave it loose behind my left ear and then do something with the tassels. I need to practice more. So pretty!

That looks really great! I think doing that must be a great way to build up your arms. :) I've never tried it, but it seems like a lot of work that I just might have to try someday. :)
