I wanted to get my hair up and out of the way and the only thing I had to secure it was a barrette so I came up with what I think is a new style.

Its similar to the folded braid only its only folded twice. I made a regular braid and without securing the end pulled upwards and folded just above the end of the braid so the end of the braids were inside and secured it with a barrette. Quick simple and out the way. And anyone who can make a medium length braid should be able to do it.

Well, I've done this before, but yours is so much more impressive! And you get more credit for getting a barrette to hold it all! My hair always pops them right off my head!

Saranne, beautiful hair style. One day I will try it...

Oh, and BTW a "dickens" is a cross between a duck and a chicken, and they can really pull. :)

Thanks snowbear. I've wondered ever since as a child I picked up this expression from my relatives in the deep south.

feralnature -- are you sure?

You beat me to it!

Yeah, it's an old term that people used to use so they wouldn't have to say "devil." Similar to the way people sometimes say "deuce." Shakespeare actually uses "the dickens" in his plays. :-)

This geek moment was brought to you by Reading Too Much.

Well, I am typing this right now from a farm in the woods of Texas....we have a farm o' freaks....but sadly, no "dickens".:D

I thought those were called "chucks" feralnature. I've never personally seen one, but the niece of a friend was attacked by one.

Very pretty! I'll be so thrilled when my hair is long enough to braid like that! That is also one seriously substantial barrette you have there to hold all of that. What is the brand?
