I haven't been able to get my hands on any INOA yet but I've been curious about it and the damage factor. The catch is, whether it has ammonia in it or not the cuticle of the hair shaft still has to be opened somehow, and I don't see how one alkaline chemical is going to be any less damaging than another. There will never be a chemical color that is permanent and completely free of damage just because of how they work. The cuticle has to be opened somehow to allow the dye molecules in. Regardless of having ammonia in it or not, all permanent colors are still going to contain PPD as well.

I have been using demi-permanent and my hair is not damaged. I am guessing that it would respond well to the INOA system since it seems to use the same cuticle opening chemicals as demi-permanents. I would be thrilled to find a permanent dye that didn't damage my hair as much as the ammonia based ones do.
